This is the first laptop with the newer cores that I can really say impressed me. I really want to know how impressive these new screens are!

I think the big question is though, are the graphics PCI-E? In other words, can the crappy ATI x300 be upgraded? If so, I will buy one in an instant! :)

Well I just got off with phone with Fujitsu tech support and they claim the x300 GPU won't be upgradeable... Oh well! It coulda been a contenda!

If anyone hears or figures out anything to the contrary, don't hesitate to post!

Also, I could be wrong, but I thought one of the advantages of the new PCI-E format was going to be the ability to easily upgrade Video cards? Can anyone clear this up?

it is a pci-e. all ati x series are, but u cannot upgrade it. it's not like its a card. its just a chip that is soldered on the mobo
now u might ask why fujitsu didn't have an option of a faster gpu. I am not so sure about the specs of these new chips, but it maybe cost or cooling those are my guesses without having anything to relly on. I am actually searching for some documentation on these chips now!

I understand the X800 explanation, but it doesnt make sense for the X600 or X700 which are being used in slimmer and more portable laptops. The Acer 8100 series is an example. i think it is smaller, weighs less than the new N3510, AND has the X700. If the N3510 had the X700 Id be all over it. Not sure why they didnt at least offer it as an option. The X300 may not be bad, but from what Ive read it doesnt even come close to soon to be outdated ATI Radeon 9700 for performance. Just dissapointing to me is all because this lappy had everything else I wanted... even though its a bit ont he chunky side vs. the competition.

It looks like I should have waited for the 3510. I have ordered the N6010, for which the ship date has been pushed back again. I called P1 and the person told me that I could try to cancel the order and reorder the 3510. I need to make up my mind within the next hour or so.

New screen technology? Apart from the diff in dimensions, could you elaborate on the differences between the n6010 and the n3510 displays?

At first I was told direct ship from Fujitsu on Feb 3. That was pushed back to Feb. 8 and now I was told that it would ship on Feb 10. We will see.

As I said in the other thread you started:
this is in no way fujitsu's fault. its just that the 533FSB didn't offer the expected improvement. So if you want to blame some one ... it's intel. And just a note the dothan 400FSB actually consumes less power than the 533FSB.

Teacher, you misunderstood my question. I was asking if you asked P1 when they can ship the N3510 not the N6010. Cause I think there should be around a 1 week wait for fujitsu to even start shipping!

told me that they dont ship until the end of this month.

also, for some reason, i spoke to someone named tom at portableone, and he seemed really apathetic. when i was asking him simple questions, i felt quite written off... like i was wasting his time or something.

That's right, Sonoma only contains changes that will leed to higher performance. That doesn't mean the current Laptops with this cert. are of that level yet.

The Processor and Video Card will be able to utilize that technology later on, when they start to incorporate better hardware to go with the increased FSB and PCI-E.

Remember, Sonoma is a Centrino, which is only a certification that means it meets Intel's standards, what ever those standards might be.
