I can't believe it. My P decided to again come to life inside its sleeve for no reason. Luckily I caught it and it was only on for probably 15mins or so.

I left home to go to work this morning, always handling my P like a newborn baby, placed it in my car on the pass seat (still in the sleeve of course) and I'm thinking that road bumps and stuff must've caused the lid to move a bit, enough for it to power on and stop at the password screen where it will sit till the battery dies if I didn't notice it.

By the time I got to work and placed it in my storage area I noticed the sleeve was a bit warm and that's when I took the laptop out and noticed it was on, with the lid down.

I gotta find a way to stop this from happening. Is there a way to keep the laptop power off even if I open the lid from hibernation? Right now it will power on from hibernate if I lift the lid (and I don't have to lift it too much). I don't want to have to shut down windows everytime I finish using it.

wat??..wen u put ur laptop into hibernation mode...all u have 2 do 2 put it back on is open the lid??...that's strange...wen i put my laptop into hibernation mode...i have 2 press the power button and it will resume Windows...but it wasn't actually "shut down"...and wen i close the lid...my laptop jus goes into standby mode...i would suggest right-cliking the desktop->properties->screen saver tab->power button for options->advanced obtions tab->and change those options for "when i close the lid of my portable computer:...and so on...i hope that helps :D

No, this is a problem with the P series and doesn't seem to have any connection with power settings. It happens to me from time to time too. I've found no fix for it.

I find out that my computer will automatically power up when I open my lid, but then I modify one option and it didn't happen again, you can try this out.

right click select "Properties" -> select tab "screen saver" -> select "Power Option" -> select "Advanced" tab -> on the drop down menu regarding "when I want to close the lid on my laptop" -> choose "not doing anything"

Please forget me that I am using Chinese Windows, so I am not 100% sure the direct translation on the menu.

    Hope this help

Thanks guys, I need an option where it will do nothing when I open the lid not when I close it. Of course I want it to stand by when I close the lid but when opening the lid I would want it to do nothing so that it doesn't turn on all by itself. It seems the only way for this to not occur again is to shut down windows properly everytime. :(

edit: ok I just tried doing what hkchewy suggested, picking "doing nothing" when I close the lid and that seemed to work. However this means I have to actually stand by the computer by doing "start, turn off computer" etc. before closing the lid.

When I hibernate it that way and close the lid and open it again it doesn't come back on so I guess that did the trick. The only thing with this setup is that before when I closed the lid after hibernating the fan would run for like 2 seconds as I close the lid, now it doesn't do it.
