Well it finally arrived. On June 4th I ordered a Fujitsu S7010D from Portable One (thanks Ivan). It is the 1.5M, 1GB, 80GB(5400rpm) HD, XP pro, DVD burner, and a three year warrenty. Price $2319. It took really long to get from Fujitsu in Japan to California but once Portable One had they upgraded, checked for dead pixels and shipped it to me very quickly. I'm pretty much a newbie when it comes to Laptops but I hope to learn quickly. This laptop is amazing. It's weight is great and I don't have any complaints about the keyboard. Maybe I'm not experienced enough to know anything but it feels fine to me. I highly recommend Portable One and Ivan and I'd like to thank all the people here for their posts which lead me to my decision. I'm sure I will be back here to answer any questions I can about this model as well as ask for help on all the problems I'm sure to create.

Well, glad to hear everything worked out and good luck with the new Fuji S7000! Portable One is definitely a great company to do business with, we fully endorse them.

I had them do that as well and there aren't any that I have noticed.

I try not to actively seek out dead pixels. For once I find one, I always see it after that! LOL! Seriously though, PortableOne has a zero dead pixel policy. If you're still in the alotted time, I'd send it back.

well, problem is that they don't have replacement screen for S6210 yet. Beside, what's the point of asking to check for dead pixel in the first place?

It's not impossible that it wasn't there when they looked. Those things do crop up over time, even if it's only a few days. Then again, maybe they just missed it...

    That's a little more comforting.

Maybe something about his configuration stalled it?

    Mine is S6210, 1.6Ghz, 1GB RAM, 60 GIG w/ 7200rpm, DVD/CDRW...

    hopefully all turns out well.

That's quick. Well I ordered mine Tuesday night and I am yet to have received a tracking number... I'm just being really impatient :) - my last new computer was in 1997, so it's been a long time.

Same config as the one I ordered from P1....lessee, I ordered on 7/2. I got an e-mail from them on 7/6 saying my original configuration requested was a factory order, but that they had a few on-hand with the DVD burner (I didn't particularly care about that). I said "shoots, brah,,,,,geeev 'em." They were waiting on the 72K60's which arrived the next day...they shipped on 7/7, but due to FedEx having to fly west against the revolution of the planet, their 2nd Day Air actually arrives tomorrow.

    Still.....pretty good, yeh??

The month wait was due to Fujitsu being behind. I think everyone who ordered around that time had the same problem. I tracked it once Fujitsu shipped it and when Portable One had it, they shipped it within a day so that wasn't where the delay was. I chalked it up to bad luck and the belief that Fujitsu wanted to be extra sure that my notebook was perfect. [8D][8D][8D]

Oh, most definately. It looks and works great and I am extremely pleased. Although it seems everyone is going for the 6000 series instead of the 7000 series.

I went for the Fujitsu S6210 over the S7000 because of the price. I might have liked to have an eraser head pointing device, but its not a big deal.

I don't like the stick point at all, but I do like smaller screen.

I definitely agree about the smaller screen. I dont see why I would want a bigger one.

Im not a huge fan of the pointing head, but its a nice option. Some people prefer that to the touchpad, although I dont think its as accurate. Oh well, to each his(or her) own.

I'm new to using a notebook. I never really like the touchpad but i figured i would get used to it. I've found the eraserhead point easier to get used to. I use the touchpad as well but the pointer is much better while I'm typing. As for screen size I like to see as much as possible and I figued that 15' is good without being too big and the 7000 series is a bit thinner so I think it makes up for it. Again I'm new to notebooks so if there were any problems with the keyboard I haven't noticed them. It does seem a bit warm but it hasn't been any problem either.

correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that thinner=easier to break when carrying around in backpack.

You probably aren't wrong but I'm hoping that this will make it a little more secure while it's in my backpack.
