my E8020D that is!
After waiting 4 weeks it is here. I had the misfortune to order right before Goldenweek and that added a week or so to the wait. Much of the wait was on Fujitsu's side rather than P1.
Also the shipping route was odd.. i followed the tracking number like a fiend.. it went from Osaka.. to Kentucky..then to Alaska, then back to Kentucky, then finally to P1 in California. P1 was pretty quick and I got it in 2 days after they got it.
I'll write a more in depth review after i spend some time with this..
however somethings I'll state..
the CV really shines.. the colors are pretty crisp and look very natural, not washed out. The glare doesn't bother me (it's slight, but present).. however I can admit, I can live with glossy or w/o it, it's not that much of a deal so far.
There's some flex in the keyboard, it's certainly not a Thinkpad..but then again.. what is?
I'm a bit disappointed it didn't come with a window's CD.
The lid on this thing is pretty stern
the adapter is not too big.. about 5 in (L), 2 in (D), 1 In (H)
heat seems to be comparable to my previous T42, but I haven't tried any serious gaming yet..
there's alot of vents, one on each side, one on the back and another on the bottom.
I just put it through my "Actraiser" test.. to those who are old school gamers, the name might sound familiar. It's an old SNES game that one can play on an emulator, provided that they legally own the real copy. For some reason, this game tests an LCD screen's "ghosting" abilities really well.. I've tried it on all of my friend's laptops to see how it fairs compared to a CRT. I must say that playing Actraiser on this screen was pretty good. Ghosting was minimal in comparison to the other screens.. although it still does exist (slightly)
in any case, I'll post a more in depth review after I spend some time with it to be fair![]()

^hehe thank Gwester.. I must say.. you are the most helpful person I've met.. not only with Fujitsu purchases, but with my many questions on just about everything!!
alright, I just installed and played some Battlefield 1942
set everything to max level, max texture, max vision, lighting/shading, etc and bots at 280
it ran well and smoothly.. during the play the E8020D is actually a bit cooler than when playing on my T42.. although you still do feel some warmth on the left plam rest area where the HD is..but over all it's not hot and the vents aren't blowing out alot of hot air.. so this is a plus.

Goren when you get the chance try FutureMark's 3D Mark 2003. I am very curious to see how this baby will fair out. If you want give the 2005 version a shot, it ran miserablly on mine, that's why I stuck with 2003 [

Hey guys,
Just got my E8020 myself and it's great! Yeah I also tracked it like crazy..amazingly it went from Osaka, Japan on Wed. to my house in NJ on Fri. [] after ordering it 1 1/2 wks ago.
Pentium M 1.6GHz, XP Prof, 15" XGA Crystalview, ATI Radeon X600 64MB, 256MB DDR2 x2, 60GB 5400rpm HDD, DVD/CD-RW, Wireless A+B/G (not Atheros).
Total: $1574 (pretax)
The design is upscale with a strong (no flex) blue-grey lid, and as mentioned already, the crystalview screen is great. Goren, you must be used to the glare, but I sometimes have a hard time getting it "just right." No big deal though, overall. At the highest brightness level, you truly know why you got a Fujitsu in the first place. [8D]
Performance is pretty quick out of the box with multiple apps open. Once again, thank you Fujitsu for not loading any crap, except of course I consider Norton Anti-Virus crap...I'll probably be upgrading to 1Gig RAM soon, but as far as gaming performance, Halo I played at max graphics and audio options, and it was nearly flawless. Sorry I can't give any FPS, but it was breathtaking coming from a Celeron! The DVD/CD-RW does make quite some racket, but very rarely. And the fans, btw, are very quiet and heat seems to be taken care of pretty well with fans and passive cooling vents on practically every side, though the back center does get warm.
Battery life seems to be around the 3 1/2 hour range with light usage, though I haven't thoroughly tested this yet. The keyboard is fine, a little "clicky", but definitely not poor in terms of travel or responsiveness. I even like the white color of the keys as opposed to boring black. Weight doesn't seem too bad for me...I had a hard time believing it was really 7.01 lbs, but overall it is a large notebook and is by definition, a desktop replacement.
Well can't wait to start using it everyday and I definitely recommend it if you're tired of seeing nothing but widescreen notebooks all the time. []
