I just started to notice that my LCD screen has this kind of static appearance on the bottom when I flip the screen up and open the laptop. When I wiggle it forward once or twice, it goes away and doesn't come back, at least until I close it and open it up again.
The static only appears about 200 pixels up from the bottom. Not sure whats causing this, was hoping someone could tell me if this can be fixed, and what normally are the costs to get this issue resolved.
Here's an image I found of the exact problem I'm having:

As soon as I applied some tension to the screen with my thumb, it changed the pattern. Some horizontal lines appeared in the bottom of the LCD.
Is it the inverter? or the LCD? I just want to know what needs to be fixed. If it's the lcd? or the inverter?

It's definitely not the LCD inverter, it's either the cables or the LCD itself. It could also be the motherboard not sending a good singal to the LCD. If your notebook is still under warranty I highly suggest you send it in for repair as soon as possible. If not I would look at getting it fixed at an authorized service center.

Well.....I did drop the laptop once, but it was in the bag. The strap snapped off and the laptop hit the ground. This is when it all started....so maybe it probably is just loose. I was thinking of opening it up myself and giving it a try, but I'll probably get it serviced instead
