Ummmm, I was juat about to purchase a 6210 from P1 when I realized that they aren't selling it anymore. They've replaced it with another model called the 6231! I'm guessing its the model that replaces the 6210.

Anybody know if the 6231 is exactly same as the 6210 or does it have some differences. P1 says it has better "heat dissipation"...anything else?

Hey you should get that. It is a better computer for the price. For instance, the S210 has the 1.6 banias CPU and 256 mb ram standard. This one has the dothan core and comes with 512 standard and also a 3 year warranty from P1. Plus better cooling which is a plus. The one with the banias core is $200 cheaper though at newegg:

But I would rather get the newer model off Portable one. Heres that link for anyone else thats interested:

Don't get the old one. Get this one. First of all it's not that much more expensive. Second it will have greater value because you can upgrade the CPU later to a 2.0GHz processor when prices fall on them. The one that has the Banias core cannot be upgraded I believe. And better heat disipation is always better.

Great job finding this one. I thought it wasnt coming to the US for months. Weird. Im going to get it. You should too.

I was thinking about getting the upgrade to 768MB RAM. Is there a big difference b/w 512MB and 768MB? Is it worth the extra $85?

You should get the upgrade to (1) 512 ram dimm for $40. Thats a good deal. And better if you ever want to get more ram because there are only 2 slots.

Yes, it's the upgraded unit, basically includes better heat dissipation as the main differentiator.

I recently upgraded my S6220's memory from 512 MB to 768 MB and I can tell you that the difference is noticeable although not much (maybe because I'm using an antivirus program that always run on the system)

BTW i think the 768 they are offering is a bad deal. Your paying an extra $55 for only 256 MB you can get a way better deal if you want to do it yourself. But if you dont, I suppose you could go for it. I just wouldnt because its not a good enough deal to me. But $40 for the 512 is definently a good deal in this case.

If it were me I would get the 512 upgrade for $40 which is a good price. Then go buy another 512 of kingston or corsair memory, so dimm, ddr333 of course to match and install it myself for $80. Thats the best deal and you will have 1 gig of ram. Booya!

Its always better to have more memory because you would use less of your harddrive space as part of your memory. More memory would increase performance and cut back certain access time on some programs. If you ever do a CTRL ALT Del on Windows Xp, a Windows Task Manager would pop up, the bottom right corner is the Commit Charge - Virtual Memory used in conjunction with your RAM. Whenever your RAM fills up during a load, it also goes and uses that Charge from your harddrive space, causing performance to drop and slow down process.
