I've noticed that the P7010 and P7120 came out late 2004 and 2005 respectively? Does this mean we'll see a new Lifebook P series this year? I've been a huge fan of the P series since I owned a P5020D for a short while.
I'm guessing it'll have a Core Solo and later on a Yonah or Merom?

Anyone have any predictions of what the new P will be like? It's gonna be confusing, since last year they released the P7120 and P1510, one a ultraportable notebook and the other a ultraportable tablet.

I think they'll wait for the ULV Meroms early next year. They might even wait for Santa Rosa later on in into early summer. But then, maybe they'll get a great deal on core solos when Intel is trying to clear out stock and release for the holidays, then drop in a ULV Merom when they become readily available. Fujitsu does seem to have trouble getting their hands on the latest chips.

I personally think they'll launch a new P series later this year with a 1.2 ghz Core Solo Core Solo and then later next year, put a Yonah or Merom into it just like the Vaio TX went from a 1.2 ghz Pentium M to 1.3 ghz Pentium M to 1.2 ghz Core Solo.
The Asus S6F is 11.1" like the Vaio TX but already has Core Duo.
I really hope the next P goes back to the 2.5" hard drives and has an 11.1" screen like the Vaio TX.

I don't know, I'm looking at buying one next summer to supplement my Thinkpad for class and travel. I don't have any issues with the 1.8" hard drive or the small screen, and it's what draws me to this model. But then, I'll be using a very lightweight build of Linux with a window manager which thrives with lower resolutions, so maybe I'm the odd man out. I usually am :)

Actually, I probably wouldn't mind so much if it went up to 11.1", but I don't want a 2.5" drive if it means reintroduction of the fan. Actually, you can have your 2.5" hard drive too, if they make the Q2xxx fanless.

We'll see as far as the refresh. We may also see them position the Q series with a more advanced core. That sort of thing seems possible in a market where the clock speed hardly budges. And honestly, it really doesn't seem to matter all that much as long as they continue to improve the casing.

Your right, I would take a 1.8" hard drive if the notebook could be fanless.

Although I've heard from a couple of sources that because the P7120 is fanless, it sometimes overheats and shuts off, is this true?

I suppose practically nobody knows any info about the next Lifebook P series?

I've never experienced that happening and I've owned mine since November 2005. Yes, it does get very warm if you have it on a flat surface (particularly your lap... ouch), but that is true of any laptop these days.

You dont need to - the Panasonic W, T and R series allhave 2.5" drives and are fanless.

I havent experience a shut down on my Panny W5 but using BitTorrent I have once got to a point where it did get hot and slow down. But never shut down.
