Does anyone know how you can boot from a USB CDROM with the Lifebook P-series 5020D? I don't have an internal CDROM, just another battery in its place and I'm upgrading the hard drive to a bigger one; from a measly 40GB to 320GB.
I changed the boot order to use CDROM first, but that option always get ignored. I have XP in the drive too.
The question is, without an optical drive and the only three device listed is CDROM, Hard drive, Floppy (which the system doesn't come with one), how can I boot?
I used DriveImage XML to backup from the old drive and restore to the new one. But I'm unable to boot from it, windows give a blue screen each time saying the drive is not bootable. Any attemp to boot into XP from CDROM to fix it fails because I couldn't access the USB CDROM.
Any help?
Thanks,

Also, I would invest in an internal CDROM drive but I can't find one for the Lifebook P5020D. I find similar looking one from other series such as the A-series and the E-series. Would those work in my P-series?
Thanks,

Unless you see an option to boot from USB in the BIOS, I think it's unlikely you can boot from USB. You can install XP over a network if you have access to one. There's a P5020 CDRW/DVD drive here on eBay.

Thanks Zaz,
I found a CDROM Drive for my Fujitsu. My brother has it but never told me about it.
Thanks!
