So, i just got done reading a review on the Lifebook P7120D and I think I'm sold. Had been considering a Sony SZ series or a Toshiba R205, but I actually saw a P7120 at Fry's Electronics here in the bay area and was VERY impressed. Then I read this review and it seems to be a no-brainer.
My concerns:
-What kind of hard drive does it use?? I need to upgrade from 60G if at all possible. Anyone know if it is possible?
-Who sells them?? Fry's has it with a 30G hard drive only... so I am not going to buy it there. They have it for $1899, but still. If anyone knows of an online seller, I'd really appreciate the info!
Thanks for reading this and for your input in advance!

I bought my P7120 from Fujitsu directly ( www.shopfujitsu.com ) about a week ago.
- I bought the 60gb / 512mb RAM version. In the near future, I'll probably buy another 512mb of RAM from Fujitsu (1gb total), and a slipcover sleeve from sfbags.com.
- I like the fact that the P7120 is fanless, and essentially silent. I've always had issues with noisy fans on my previous notebooks. A noisy fan going on & off is unacceptable for business meetings.
- At home, I keep it plugged into a 17" LCD flatscreen, $5 USB keyboard, and optical USB mouse, so it feels just like a desktop.
- Performance is a little bit slow, so I'd definitely recommend the 512mb RAM version, and later upgrading to 1gb RAM if you decide to keep it. If you're just using the P7120 for internet browsing/email/word/excel/etc, you should have no problems. But there's no way you're going to play Half-Life 2 on this laptop.
- Due to the fanless design, the P7120 does get a little hot during heavy duty operations (like when I'm downloading large files, or backing up my entire hard drive to an external USB 2.0 hard drive). So I bought a $25 laptop cooling pad (VANTEC LapCool 2 Notebook Cooler from NewEgg.com) and turn it on during heavy duty operations, but it's probably not needed.
- Fujitsu has 24 hr tech & customer support by phone for life, which is great. This is one of the reasons I gave up on Dell. Dell used to offer that, but now they charge you by the minute if you're past your warranty period.
- Note that if you custom configure a Fujitsu laptop on the Fujitsu website, you can't return it. So if you buy from the Fujitsu website, I'd recommend buying the pre-configured 60gb/512mb version of the P7120/P7120D, so you'd have a 15 day return period if you don't like it. And then add another 512mb RAM later on (1gb total) if you decide to keep it.
Overall, I like the P7120 so far. And I recommend it, as long as you don't need serious processor speed (like for gaming). -
The P7120 uses a 1.8" hard drive which I believe are limited to 30 and 60GB in size. They also only spin at 4200RPMs so performance isn't going to be top level. If you are only doing internet and office it will work fine.

(this was written at 4:30pm today and for some reason didn't post properly)
I am SOOOOO happy - just bought a Fujitsu P7120D from a seller on eBay for a pretty dang good price.
It is the 20754 model, which has everything: 60G hd, bluetooth, wireless, 512 of RAM, and 6-cell battery. It's supposed to be brand new, in-box, warranty and all. I've called Fujitsu 3 times today and apparently their sales line is in Ontario - what a great bunch of people! All 3 I spoke with were both personable and professional. Seems like I've bought into a good family!
I'm quite content now and it's time to get ready to go see Depeche Mode in concert tonight. Thanks for the feedback and info, and please feel free to share any advice you have for me as a new Fujitsu user!

Well if you haven't found it yet, LeoG.net has a forum dedicated to the P7000 series ( http://www.leog.net/fujp_forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=23). And congrats on your purchase!

Hi Dude!
I'm thinking of buying the P7120 shortly and setting it up for home use as you do (monitor/USB mouse and keyboard).
Can you please tell me if you need a docking station to do this or can you just plug the three components in without one?
Also, is it possible to run these three components with the notebook for a few hours WITHOUT using a power adapter?
Thanks! -
I'm not sure but I read the specs for p7010/d do use 100 gb hd so the p7010d might be 2.5" but cant be sure.
You could try ebay is only way I know of.
I know in ebay a seller by name of fujitsu_computer_store but usually he/she sells refurbished laptop, but sometimes brand new. Still the laptop that is sold by that seller is shipped straight from fujitsu store which is nice but you might have to pay tax still.
Bought one laptop from the seller and it is very good and a way lower price than in store.
just dunno if the seller is selling p7120 anymore
