My main battery charges to 84%, then stops, except it says it's still charging. Sometimes this prevents the modular bay battery from charging, but sometimes it lets it charge.
What do you think, time to replace the main battery, or is the inverter going bad? I've noticed that plugging into different outlets to charge can improve or worsen the charging results, so maybe the power brick is bad too. Hopefully it's nothing else, but please share any ideas.

No idea. I haven't come across this problem (or any others) in the week that I've had my Lifebook. Knock on wood.
I have noticed that while the machine draws power from both batteries at the same time, it only charges one at a time - starting with the main battery. If the main battery isn't registering 100%, I guess that would prevent it from charging the bay battery.
Short term fix might be to remove the main battery so you can at least charge up the modular one. If that works without any problems, my first guess would be that the problem's with the main battery... -
Yeah, I just had to remove the main battery to get the modular battery to charge.
I don't care that the main battery never gets to 100%, I just want it to stop trying to charge it so it can charge the other battery. I'll probably order a new main battery tonight unless there's good reason to replace something else first. I've been wanting to get my main battery rebuilt with bigger cells...I used to get 10+ hours on batteries, and was hoping for 12+ with rebuilt batteries and an efficient ssd. I hope that's not clouding my judgement, which is why I posted here.
Main battery won't finish charging
