I'm looking to buy an si1520 / v3205(?) (thanks for the thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=78844 about core 2 duos coming up in the 1520) as my desktop replacement. Which, now, is pretty much just photoshop, web and music (cakewalk sonar).

I've not been able to find the max resolution to an external monitor via the dvi output - does anyone know? I'm thinking of the philips 200w6 S-IPS lcd which is 1680 x 1050.

Secondly, does anyone know if upgrading the ram by hand affects the warranty? Thinking of going up to 2G.

    Thanks

Ok - after some more searching, in case it helps anyone else... :)

I couldn't find this in the pdf or manual for the 1520, but assuming that it's a single link DVI port it can still do 1920*1080 at 60Hz,
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVI
so 1680 by 1050 should be ok.

From the manual linked in the thread referred to above, it's ok to upgrade memory yourself if you've rung tech support and they've ok'd it. So I guess I should try them before buying.
