Im trying to upgrade them memory on an Amilo L 7300(curently running 256) to 512 or possibly more but cannot get any access to the inside of the laptop.
All I can find out is that the memory slots are beneath the keyboard, but how to gain access or how to remove the keyboard?

You have to remove a few screws, usually under the battery. Try your manual though for a diagram.

Brian, thanks for thr reply,Ive removed all visable screws from laptop case and its still a no go to get it open.
The manual says nothing about upgrades apart from returning it to fujitsu.
I was hoping to do the upgrade myself, the laptop specs shows it can handle 2 gig of ram so technically its possible but physically gettinig in to the unit is a pain.

All I can say is that you're missing something. You have to remove screws and probably remove a plate or piece that keeps the keyboard pinned down.

Youre absolutely right Brian I did miss something, the top panel where the power and three other buttons live is a removable panel to gain access to the keyboard screws.

Ive been struggling for a week or so with this beast, cursing my inability to remove the cover and upgrade the memory. The advice and picture proved to be extremely helpful. Many thanks to you both. :)

    What the...

I've never seen anyone have to remove the whole darn keyboard to updrage the memory?! I suppose I'll have to do the same to upgrade my memory when my notebook arrives. :(

I'd hate to break any little tabs of plastics off the sides of the keyboard.

    Now I'm nervous.

Actually HP does the same for a lot of their models. We get quite a few phonecalls about this every week :D

Wow. That's a lot more complicated than upgrading the memory on the S7020. That took me all of four minutes, two of which were spent opening the wrong compartment and closing it back up. Strange that the manual for the S7020 includes step-by-step instructions for upgrading the RAM, while the manual for the Amilo tells you to take it to the service center.
