Wow! This is exactly what I want in terms of size and features. I just have a few niggling questions.

    1. There's no difference between P7000D and P7010D, right? I see this system referred to as both. Fujitsu says the former on its site. Everyone else says the latter.

    2. Can the extra, modular battery be in the unit at the same time as the optical drive? If so, what's that bring the weight to? Edit: Look like this one's a "no."

    3. It apparently has a "scroll button" when not equipped with the fingerprint sensor (which I don't care about). What's that mean? I see no mousewheel-like doodads in any pictures. Is it just a mini touchpad between the buttons that's used for scrolling? Some other mechanism?

    4. Think a Sonoma version's coming soon? Someone posted a rumor suggesting there'd be one at CeBit this week. Hmm. I'd definitely wait if so.

    Thank you in advance!

1- P7000 is just the series name, and P7010 is the current model.
    2- You answered yourself. No.
3- The scroll button is sort of a rocker, ie 2 buttons in 1, up and down.
4- ULV processors remain with 400FSB. And just a few days ago fujitsu actually started taking orders on P7010 with PM 1.2GHz, which is the new upgrade. So no Sonoma for this line, just the newer faster 1.2GHz CPU.

I've been researching notebooks fairly hardcore for two months now, and it seemed there was nothing that met my high requirements ... at least below $3,000. So, discovering this model today (thanks to the front page story) was a bit of a revelation. :)

Okay, it's a wee bit too thick and the integrated graphics suck, but I'm not gonna find better anytime soon.

I'm so happy it has a scroll device.

I actually like the fingerprint scanner more than the scroller, but to each his own. I also have an updated P7 on order.

So you are saying that you positively cannot have a fingerprint scanner and a scroller? The scroller is used for webpages to go up and down right? Don't they have the section on the right side of the touchpad that makes webpages go up and down? I'm confused now. Or is the scroller something separate?

In my case, I believe I will prefer the physical nature of the hardware scroller to the touchpad / software solution.

It was kind of annoying how poorly documented this aspect of the notebook was around the web; hence my earlier question about it.

So bent did you receive your P7 or you still have a wait?

Let us know how you like it. Always good to hear from a satisfied customer. [ :)]

I ordered it from P1 and the expected ship (or arrival?) date is 3/22. Quite looking forward to exulting in its tinyness. ;)
