I received my new Fujitsu Celsius H920 a few days ago. As you can read from this thread, I had more or less settled on this computer due it being the last >= 17 inch laptop with a non-chiclet keyboard, or a keyboard similar to the 17.3 inch Dell Precisions.

I expected that the computer would be worse in most respects other than the keyboard, but I did not expect its shortcomings to be so huge, and indeed that even the keyboard was dissatisfactory. I am not going to explain it in detail here, just underlining what is most relevant:

    – The keyboard is somewhat more pleasant to rest one's fingers on while thinking about what to type next than on the two chiclet keyboards I own, but while typing, the keyboard cannot keep up with my speed, and I do not type as fast as on the chiclet keyboards, or indeed as on any keyboard I currently own. This experience is in huge contrast to what is stated in this review. However, this might be related to the fact that I got a white keyboard on my H920, which I have not seen any mention of anywhere. I did try a white Fujitsu keyboard a while ago, on a "refurbished" Lifebook E8110, which was much more pleasant and effective to type on than this keyboard.
    – Actually I have found the trackpoint (or pointstick) to be the greatest asset on the machine. At first, I found it quite unpleasant and cactus-like, but after a while, I started appreciate its fast navigation and ability to double-click. I was helped by the manual, which said I should use it gently – I had to adapt to a slightly different way to use it than on my ThinkPad T60.
    – I have read a few places on the web, one of them here in this subforum, that the Fujitsu laptops produced in Japan are superior to the ones produced in Augsburg, Germany. I took for granted that it was produced in Germany, since all information I read on the web ( indicates this, and when starting the machine for the first time, I was met by an "ad-video", demonstrating the superiority and reliability of the Augsburg factory. However, on the bottom on the machine it says "made in Japan", and the languages in BIOS are English and Japanese, so this is a little strange ...
    – The SSD-quality is surprisingly bad. It takes longer to start Mozilla Firefox on this machine than it does on my eight-year-old ThinkPad T60 with a Kingston SSD. Again, this is in contrast to what one is led to believe by reading the above-mentioned review.
    – It seems I should have paid more attention to the only other in-depth review I found of a comparable machine, H910, which is not very flattering. Note that the SSD on my machine is actually MicroSD, not Toshiba.
    – The sound-quality is the worst I have heard on any functional laptop.
    – The clicky sounds on the mouse keys are annoying.
    – I did not get access to server when trying auto-update drivers.
    – I had to hold on the "power off"-button after few hours of use, an incident which has yet to occur on my T60, which I have had for several months. This was because explorer.exe would not restart after I had forced the shutdown of that process, during a freeze in the creation of a VPN connection. When I tried to log off with Windows Task Manager, I was just stuck in the off-logging process.

I cannot see why should not use my 14-day cancellation right on this computer, but I don't see any clear alternatives. I have a lot of questions, which are not Fujitsu-related, but I hope it is OK to mention them anyway. For now, I wonder about this:

I found the 1920x1080 resolution not to be ideal even on a 17.3 inch screen, and so I had to magnify the font size
globally. However, not all applications seem to be affected by this, and it is not always possible to magnify within the program. I did not get good results when adjusting the resolution down to 1600x900. What I wonder, is if 17.3 inch computer with a max. resolution size of 1600x900 generally will do better in this regard.
