I have a Fujitsu N3510. Some applications that I access through
the taskbar on the bottom right leave lines of their menus
on the screen - Menu Droppings! It happens sometimes,
but is very annoying. They stay on top of anything else and
I have to put the computer to sleep and wake or reboot
to get them to go away.

I have the standard Video driver and I assume this is
related to the video, not the applications themselves.
Anybody know if this is a known issue?

Could it be the applications? Usually it's just a single
line from a popup menu when I right-click an application
in the task bar. Very annoying.

LOL, that' a great name, menu droppings, heh!

Anyway, is it the same application every time? Maybe it's icon leaves some sort of remnant for some reason. I'd look at removing and re-adding the video driver though, I think you're on the right track.

I do get icon droppings on the desktop sometimes :D ... I always thought it was the fault of windows because it happens on many different computers. But that is usually solved by a right click > refresh ... you might wanna try that, not sure if the refresh does so only for the desktop or also for the taskbar!

It is mainly my antivirus program, but I know others have done
this when I try and access it soon after waking the computer -
when there is alot going on after a boot or something.

Doing a right-click, refresh does not make it go away. Putting
the computer to sleep and waking does. It's got to be something
    about the video driver.
