    Hi Everyone

I have own N3510 for about 3 months now, I like the notebook for almost every aspect of it, accept for the heat issue for the harddisk, ram component, I have used MobileMeter to determine the heat for the idle harddisk and it is about 56 - 58 Degree Celius, and I find out the ram component area is very uncomfortable after putting the laptop on my nap for 20 mins, I know that there is no perfect machine, and just want to check you all Fujitsu Owner, how was your heat generated for your computer, so I can get a better laptop on my next purchase.

I know this laptop is desktop replacement or multimedia notebook, so I know there is a going to be a heat issue, by throwing one more question, how was the heat compares to N6010 series.

    Using MobileMeter
    HDD temp: 58 degree Celius
CPU temp: 51 degree Celius (Underclock using rmclock 1.6)

I had the N3510 for a short while, and now I have had my N6010 for quite some time. I find that the N6010 actually runs cooler even with a P4 CPU (not sure about the newer N6000 series with PM CPUs).

On the N6010 the whole keyboard area remains cool. It's only a bit warm over the HDD (left of the touchpad). But you cannot use it on your lap or on a bed because you will block the cooling vents on the bottom.

Even when gaming and the fans blasting at full speed and the CPU hiting 70C sometimes, the cooling system does a fine job at keeping the area where you have your hands cool, and other than the noise of the fans (which you get over after a while) it's perfectly usable!

oh btw, at idle conditions in a normal room temp. of around 25C. the HDD and CPU run at around 47C.

Even stressed the HDD never exceeds 50C (I have a 7200RPM, which some claim to run hotter!)

As for the CPU, as I said before, under heavy usage it can reach 70C. BTW the thermal protection (computer crashes/restarts to protect CPU) kicks in at around 77C (for P4M, I think it is lower for PMs) ... that never happened to me before although I do abuse my CPU sometimes :p

    Thanks for the reply

you indicated that in idle temp should be around 47 degree, but I have 55 or 56 on idle, is there something wrong.

I noticed that even when I idle, the harddisk light indicator is blinking, that would probably explain the heat because the harddisk is working even idling, I have used spyware detector to remove the adware stuff, so I think I have a clean machine hopefully, and adware shouldn't be the cause of the working harddisk continuously.

Sorry for the off topic, I have run Microsoft antispyware and Ewido, anti virus and zonealarm on the background, will those program is going to do some swap file between harddisk to RAM even when idle, so my harddisk is running all the time and cause the heat issue?

Which HDD do you have hkchewy? On my N3510 my HDD rarely goes beyond 45 degrees. With gaming, the CPU does go up to around 56 degrees. Idle HDD temp is around 33 degrees.

I am using the Stock HDD Offer from Portable One

It is HITACHI_DK34FA-60 provided the detail given on MobileMeter, and it spins 4200RPM,

Is there any program that can check what kind of process running is using the HDD?

    Thanks in Advance

Been running my N6010 for about 4 Months now, overclcocked memory on 9700 to 243, temp runs low 50"s while gaming, (HL2), around 40 at idle, HDD (5400 rpm) idles at about 42, stays under 50 while under load. Palm rests always quite comfortable temp wise

I have done a couple of upgrades to my 3510.... I'm running a 2.13GHz PM, with 2GB DDR2/533 and a Hitachi 100Gb/7200RPM drive (sorry this is not a shipping product, but it is sweet)....

CPU Idles @54C, (@800Mhz, 0.98V) fan kicks in @60C. Never seen temps above 65C once that fan goes into high gear. The HDD seems to run @48-50C.

All these temps are well under the max case temp for the PM, so I am not worried. We have designs at work that run the PM @90c, 24/7 (ambient is 55C...ouch). Thermal shutdown is 100C. I haven't tried running the 3510 outside here (Central TX, Austin). Air temp today is 37, so I expect the fan would be going flat out.

Oh BTW, I still get 2:55 from a fully charged battery, with min brightness.

All temps etc are from Centrino Hardward Control (a great app).

Just got my N3511 in today, after playing around some in CHC, my idle temp is 52C (80F ambient) @ 800MHz, 0.700V, and my load temp is 66C @ 1.87GHz, 1.004V with the fan running briskly but not all-out. The left palmrest is what I would consider warm, but hardly bothersome, HDD temp from CHC is 48C. The back left reigon is pretty warm, nearing the borderling of what I'd call hot, but it's far from painful or the like.

After I delete some processes that causes the HDD/CD light indicator blinking continuously, my idle CPU temp is about 52 Degree Celius and HDD temp is about 52 - 53 degree Celius (a drop from 2 - 3 degree), I guess I just have to live witht the heat of this laptop

And by the way, for this laptop, there is no vent on the buttom of the laptop, so I don't think there will be a problem using this laptop on bed right, I have done it before, and idle temp is about the same nonetheless, but is it still a good idea?
