What's the deal with the keyboard on the N3510? Is it suppose to be backlit? Or just translucent?

    Thanks

Translucent, a little more than the P7000 even.

it's a super cool idea if someone crazy enough does such a mod, although such a keyboard would be totally useless, since the chars wont appear all that nice when backlit.

Just checked FEDEX and my N3 has made it to Philly airport ... YAY, should be here tomorrow afternoon. P1 were amazing they shipped my order on the same day although I ordered just past noon.

    qwester,

Please let us know your first thoughts on the N3510 once you get it. This laptop makes my short list of candidates, and I want to hear more from the owners.

    Thanks.

If you get one that has zero dead pixels, you will be greatly impressed. The only CON is that it's about a 10-12 lb laptop. I don't mind that at all though.

Having the dedicated X300 do all visual processing is also a nice perk.

The wide screen is actually formatted correctly too. It's the only wide screen or extended view screen that doesn't mess the picture up or make it too small.

Fujitsu says they are going to ship mine back using Saturday service so I can get it back faster. They are being really helpful.

Um....this laptop does not weigh 10 to 12 pounds. It's listed at around 7 1/2 pounds. It's the entire shipping weight of the packing box, packing materials, manual, laptop and anything else that is packed in the box that weighs around 12 pounds. Mine arrived yesterday and the full packed box feels light to me......and, I have NO strength!

The TV Tuner cannot possibly can an odd 3lbs to the weight. Even with the tv tuner, i estimate the weight of no more than 8lbs...

Oh you estimate the weight at 8lbs. In other words; you really don't know.

If I am not mistaken the box that mine was delivered in was labeled 10lb. mine was without tv tuner. but think of it this way, a gfx card with the bigest heat sink doesn't weigh 1 lb. so a 2 lb tv tuner is out of the question. but the unit certainly fells heavy and dense! I never bothered to check its weight in the few hours I had mine.

Yes, it does feel heavy. Much more so than my older C2330 that was suppose to weigh 7.7lbs.

My shipping box said the entire packaged weighed 12lbs.

I just received my N3510 and I am immediately sending it back to Fujitsu. The screen (supposedly a Color Enhanced Crystal View) is much worse than Toshiba's TruBrite or Sony's XBRITE 2. You can see pictures here: http://murphj.home.att.net/wsb/html/view.cgi-photos.html-.html

    Hi,

Has any of you users with a N3510 have a problem with the keyboard fading away the top coat of the paint? Like the rough surface has become shiny and smooth?

Is there a way to prevent this? like a laptop cover or seal I can get? Cos I just got my keyboard replaced under warranty and I don't want that to happen again

    Thanks
