I'd had a great time with my Fujitsu until I came back from a recent vacation, while the Fujitsu slumbered here for a bit over a week. Turned it on and... nothing...
Called Fujitsu and they walked me through a few steps over the phone. Seemed to be a real problem, and they asked whether I'd rather send it in or take it to a local facility. Still under warranty, luckily, I guess.
They told me a week to 10 days when I took it in. I waited nearly two weeks, patiently. This week, everytime I called, it would be tomorrow. I could get no details, what was wrong, just parts are here, it will be tomorrow...
I digress. I gather from what they said it was a bad motherboard.
After arguing with them on the phone today, three days of being told tomorrow was really enough, they relented and completed it today.
Go in, pick up, seems fine. Starts up, yadda yadda.
But, tonight, I notice, that when I close the lid, it's no longer going into standby mode. I can push the power button and that works, but not the lid switch, wherever that may be. I'm in no rush to be without it again for weeks. I checked in power management, and it's still set to go to standby when the lid is closed. I've tried un-checking and re-checking it to no avail.
Suggestions? Definitely a hardware issue?

They might have done something as simple as not reconnect the lidswitch. I've seen that happen. Depending on how the switch engages, you may be able to fool it by engaging it with a paperclip or the like as a test.
I'd call the repair shop and see what they have to say, or better yet call in and say they didn't properly repair the thing. Get them to let you take it back in and show them, if it's not a waste of your time or a pain to do so.
Worst case, they'll point out how you're stupid and how it's a simple (36-step) process to re-enable it, or they'll troubleshoot it a bit to get it working again.
Good luck, sorry to hear about your trouble.
And hey, there's always tomorrow.
