Well, my 6010 arrived last night and I have a few comments.
1. Quality: Outstanding so far. Fit and finish is excellent, component quality outstanding (makes my Dell I8600 seem very flimsy in comparison
2. Screen: Awesome! No dead pixels, bright, clear, crisp, just stunning
3. Weight: For my uses really quite good. Not so heavy I can't easily transport it around the house, and as I am in a wheelchair, much easier to bring it to me than me to my desktop.
4. Heat: Very efficient cooling...quiet fans, palm rests not much warmer tha body temperature, if that.
5. Keyboard: sturdy, responsive, eesy to see white keys, black silkscreen, 10 key numpad great.
6. Performance: On everything i've tried so far jackrabbit fast. 5400 rpm drive much better than 4200 Dell.
7. Sound: Really great for a lappy. Subwoofer makes big diff.
Overall a very impressive machine. I'd highly recommend if you don't need a sub 7 pound unit.

Won't a white keyboard be terribly reflected by the glossy CrystalView screen? I've seen a laptop like this at Fry's and the screen (if black) is quite a mirror for the white keyboard.
Has anyone with a white-keyboard Fujitsu tried to watch a movie at night with the laptop on their lap and see if it *is* watchable given the possible reflection?

By the way, can you play dvd's without booting the N-6010? Jeff, did you get the tv tuner and if you did, can you comment on the quality and ease of recording and transferring to DVD?
Is it advisable to get an extended warranty? for how long? and I understand that the screen are not covered and that is extra..can anybody comment on this
Thanks -
Gee, I didn't get the TV tuner, so can't give you an opinion on that, as to warranty I did buy an extra 2 year warranty from Fujitsu, but not the accidental damage protection. For that I went with a personal articles policy with state farm and it's costing me all of about $23 a year

I got a N6010 with a TV tuner. I only tried it out once and the quality was pretty terrible; but maybe that's just because I didn't set it up properly? My cable line wasn't long enough to connect to my computer.
I also tried recording from VCR to DVD. The process was just nerveracking if you decide not to boot up the computer. I booted up the computer to record and the process was actually very easy...although there were one VHS tape that I tried to record with didn't work. The VHS tape had nothing but recorded TV programs, but somehow, after recording for a few minutes, the computer decided to give me a message that it doesn't allow the recording of copyrighted materials.....so strange since this was just a blank VHS tape that I used to record some TV programs.........I kept trying it and it would cut me off at different times each time, so I finally got annoyed and gave up.
Other than that, I LOVE my Fujitsu! -
I put a check for nearly two grand in the mail today to P1...for MY N6010 (non-TV tuner, upgraded to 768 RAM and 7,200 HDD.)
I'll be a BaSkEt CaSe [] from having to wait on it now! [

Never thought I'd be into THIS stuff! -
Daveman, I know what u mean....I was on pins and needles waiting for mine. Forget that this thing handles anything you throw at it, it's just freakin' gorgeous to look at [

I am also waiting for my N6010. Originally is was told that the ship date was 2/3 but yesterday I was told that date was projected to be 2/8 from Japan. I hope they are right.
Teacher -
yeah, im also waiting for my fujitsu. mine was meant to ship today but it still hasnt shipped[
!]. its so hard waiting - i just wish i could fast forward time (like in the sims) to when it arrives.
-
Me too!
Waiting for them to be shipped from the manufacturing facility.
Aaaaaaaagggghhh!!!!!!!!![}]
Never thought I'd be into THIS stuff! -
Wow, I know how you all feel. When I got mine in December, I had to wait a week. It was expected to arrive after christmas, but they managed to ship it earlier and it arrived a day before christmas. [
]
-
waaaahhhh[
][
], ive already waited one and a half weeks and it still hasnt shipped...sobb..sobbb..[V]. i wonder why its taking soo long, its not custom built/built to order or something..
its now been 3 weeks, 4 days, 8 hours since my old lappy broke down (and me left with no computer in my college room). i feel as if im going to go nuts anytime now[)][xx(]
-
Fujitsu doesn't fill warehouses with stock, they are much more lean.
Editor in Chief http://www.bargainPDA.com and http://www.SPOTstop.com -
well, i emailed them asking why it still hasnt shipped yet and portableone replied saying that the shipping date has been pushed back to 4/9!!!!
i wish that that was a misprint because i cant afford to wait any longer(a college student with no computer-by the time ill get it, itll already be spring break). i really dunno whats going on but to wait anything more than a 2 or 3 weeks for a computer is pathetic. im gonna call them later on to clear this up. -
ahahahhahahaaa, well they emailed me again saying that it WAS a typo - and that it ships on 2/9. phewww[^]
-
DUDE! [:0]
I'm glad you posted that WAS a typo!
My heart sunk when I first read that! []

Just ran my first 3DMark03 on her and she turned in a score of 3240. Don't know if that's in keeping with other lappies with similar specs. Any thoughts?

oh man, my lappys shipping date keeps getting pushed back, first 2/4
then 2/9 and now probably next week[V][V]. well, i guess the longer the wait, the sweeter the reward[^]...hopefully -
The TV Tuner I have is great.
It boots to Windows Xp Embedded and it does a few setups.. and after the machine is set to instant TV mode it can boot up into TV MODE or DVD MODE without actually booting into your main OS. so you can watch TV and DVDs independently. And you can burn TV straight to DVD or your HD wich is great.. my TV quality was good.. I had no complains, uising Svideo and Even Coax.. looked great.
The remote has TONS of full featured buttons.
The Screen is amazing and when it is ON.. I almost NO reflections of the keyboard cause when you tilt the screen with the back side stand.. it elevates the laptop so it is not at a complete 90^ angle.
The Screen is amazing, quiet fans, COOL, The TV card can heat up a bit when you watch tv alot on it.. so the left hand may get hot if you type alot over it.. but it isn't uncomfortably hot.
I am loving mine.

my laptop finally arrived today. im so busy installing stuff so this is gonna be a short post. the screen is soooooooooooooo gorgeous youd wanna marry it. also the build quality is top notch.
however, not all is good.
i just checked my system info and it says i have a 80gb toshiba 4200rpm HD and 512MB Ram when I ordered a 60GB 5400 Fujitsu HD and 1GB Ram. im soo pissed[!][
!], ive double/tripled checked and all gave the same specs. im gonna call portableone bout this!!!
-
Glad your baby arrived! Sorry about the probs. Don't know what to say about the hard drive, but Sysinfo in mine also reports only 512MB RAM but I do have 1 MB in her. Either a glitch in windows reporting, or I noticed also that with HT technology it reports I have two processors....so maybe 512MB each?
Fujitsu N6010, 1GB DDR, Mobile P4 3.2Ghz HT, 17" WXGA+, 128MB Mobillity Radeon 9700 -
yeah, my sysinfo actually says 256mb but ive checked with a few others and yeah it is 512mb. nevertheless i should have 1gb..[
!]
i basically have the spec for the standard $1749 model...Ahhhhhh, i just got it and installed everything, i really can't be bothered to send it back or sumthing..!! -
Well I do have one problem now about the TV Tuner. it is USB 2.0 based and has a 1 second delay on it, making it impossible to play XBOX on it, so I guess I am sticking with TV and cable only

Well, my N6010 came today and it's just what I expected. EVEN BETTER! Have'nt loaded any of my software on to it yet, just getting the feel of it and making sure that everything works as advertised. So far so good. I've seen alot of displays, and this one is by far the best. Toshiba is close, but no cigar.
-
heheh, i'll be re-recieving my fujitsu tommorrow. Apparently they gave me the wrong model (512mb and 80gb 4200rpm) instead of (1gb and 60 5400rpm hd). so i returned it back to them yesterday and they said they'll upgrade my hd to 7200rpm for free!![
][
]. and tommorrow i'll be getting it back. i ordered it from portableone and their customer service has been really good so far.
and yeah, the screen IMO is the most beautiful ever -

Great review, Nitro...most complete I've seen anywhere! I agree wish I had a CF reader, but $30 took care of it and the USB ports are conveniently placed as you point out. Haven't installed the Omega drivers yet...still a little chickensh*t to mess with her[
]. Did real world improvement in performance happen for you with them, or was it primarily a benchmark number bump?
Fujitsu N6010, 1GB DDR, Mobile P4 3.2Ghz HT, 17" WXGA+, 128MB Mobillity Radeon 9700 -
The omegas really haven't made a big difference... However as time progresses, you will need to update them for future games. Right now though, I doubt it is a must.. Update them when you discover an issue. The benchmark improvement of 3DMark 03 with the omega's was minor (i think it was 50 points with standard core and memory settings). I'm hearing on the web that the DNA Drivers will make a very sizable increase in FPS with Half Life 2 on a R9700/R9800 Series adapter, so I am going to test this and report back to you guys.
Yes this unit is one heck of a deal. Also I have yet to see a screen that can hold a candle to a Fuji Crystal View Screen.. Simply the best currently on the market IMHO.

Is TV tuner works in PAL system or only in NTSC?
And how can I buy this model in EU (or is there any N6010 "brother" for European Union)? -
Just a quick update...went ahead and installed DNA Drivers 3.6.5.1a lite and while didn't get a bump in 3DMark03 scores HL2 does run quite a bit smoother with all settings maxed out

I just ordered one of these myself. I found a Retailer on Ebay that had the basic model for $1500+shipping. I'm very excited and will receive it in a few days. But, I've read through the manual and it quotes that the Memory as PC2100 DDR333 SO-DIMM. Isn't DDR333 PC2700 amd PC2100 DDR266???
I'm am no expert, but this seems mixed up to me. I want to order a 1GIG stick of memory, but I'm not sure what to get. Any council on this Folks?
Thanks in advance.
