This has occurred several times already. After surfing the WWW and then exiting Internet Explorer my desktop icons completely disappear. The computer locks up and I have hold the power button down to turn the computer off then back on again. Has anyone experienced this? Thanks[ :(]

    Teacher,

This is off-topic but I want to know you find the fans noisy. I've read that the fans of N6010 are really loud and noisy. I wonder if they fixed this?

The fans don't bother me. If you are a very quiet room without the TV, radio or other ambient noise it probably could get annoying. I use this laptop in the classroom and I don't hear a thing. I have a three year old Dell that is slightly louder than this one. Bottom line, it's not a problem for me.

Teacher, didn't you upgrade your rams recently? And if this issue started right after you did the upgrade then you might want to consider the possibilty of ram problems.
    But first some questions:
Does the problem only happen when exiting IE?
Is it a hard crash? I mean can you still move your mouse pointer, or is it a total hardware lock up?

To test if you have a faulty Ram module, this is the best of what is available (I tried it when I upgraded my Rams): http://www.memtest.org/

If you have questions about how it works et me know...
