Ok so today early morning FedEx delivered my replacement N6010. I love everything about it. The keyboard is soooooooooo much better than the N3510. While the left side arm rest does get a bit warm, it is no where near how hot the N3510 was getting and is by no means bothersome. The screen is as good as the N3510 if not better, I cannot really compare without having them side by side, but I love the 17". And while I thaught the N3510 looked great, for some reason I am liking the white on the N6010 better, although closed the N3510 looks better in my opinion.

Ok so why am I not totally happy. I have stuck pixels [ :(][ :(!], why cannot I get a break! This unit came direct from fujitsu, and hence wasn't checked for dead pixels prior to shipping.

A QUESTION TO N6010 OWNERS: My fans seems to be running at a significant speed (a bit noisy), not the fastest possible but fast, although the air coming out of the left side vent is barely warm. Is that the case with you?
And shouldn't there be air coming out of the middle vent? Nothing come out of mine! Or at least I cannot feel a significant flow!

Oh I forgot to mention how impressed I am with the sound on this machine. It by no means matches my logitech Z-3 speakers, but it is pretty good. I wouldn't mind watching a dvd using the built in speakers only. This isn't the case for me with a lot of other laptops!

Man, that sucks Qwester. When it rains it pours. I was afraid mine would be the one with a stuck or dead pixel since it came direct from fujitsu, but I guess I was luckey. I've noticed that there is not much air flow from the center fan. I'm begiing to wonder if it might be an intake fan. Dont know for sure tho.

In continuation to my N3 vs. N6.
HDD temp is only 43 degrees. that's 15 degrees less than the N3.
CPU temp is 52 degrees. 5 degrees less than the N3.
Although you would expect a centrino to be running cooler than a P4, this is not the case, but after all the N6 is significantly noisier than the N3.
On the palm rest area heat issue. After more than 2 hours on, and windows installing updates every now and then, and thus having to restart. The entire hand rest area is warm, but still no where near the N3, and I am still finding it extremely tolerable to use this fabulous keyboard [ :p]. I am not used to a full keyboard on a notebook, I keep hiting the enter on the keypad each time I want to use the arrow keys (since those are usually at the lower right corner), but I think I can be spoiled by this keyboard easily.
The touchpad buttons are a bit on the stiff side, but I really don't care since I usually tap and I have a logitech MediaPlay mouse on its way to me [ :D]. BUT ANOTHER QUESTION TO FUJITSU OWNERS IN GENERAL: IS THERE A WAY TO SCROLL USING THE SIDE OF THE TOUCHPAD, LIKE WITH OTHER MANUFACTURERS, INSTEAD OF THE SCROLL BUTTON?

I will be checking video performance later and let people interested know what I find!

Yes, you can scroll using the touch pad on a Fujitsu.

There is an option for it in the software for the touch pad. I can't remember what it's called.

I wish I had my Fujitsu, then I could tell you.

I personally don't use it, but I do love to tinker/tweak. So I do know it's there.

I will let you know this Tuesday, since I am getting my system back then.

well my N6 is back for a screen replacement, so I cannot search for it either. I hope that third time is a charm! Though Ivan at P1 said he's willing to keep on trying till I get a none defective screen, but I would just like to be done with the trouble of returning and replacing. I just want to enjoy my laptop, especially that spring break is coming in just over a week.
I guess ChaosBlizzard understands my pain, if I am not mistaken you're on your third replacement. So even worse than me!

Yes, I am on my third replacement and hopefully my last. Fujitsu seems to have serious problems with their LCDs.

Every single time I have to send the unit back, it's due to a bad LCD.

No wonder why Fujitsu gave up the LCD business to Sharp. I hope Sharp can build better LCDs for Fujitsu's Laptops.

I wouldn't want a sub standard screen either, but maybe these lines (N6010 and N3510) are suffering from teething pains. They are new screen sizes for fujitsu, so maybe they haven't got their process as tight as with the other size screens that they have been making for a while now. This happens in cars, just ask anyone. Why not a computer, too? Another good reason in my book for not living at the bleeding edge of technology.

I just got the N3510 back and everything is okay! I scanned the screen several times for bad/defective pixels and lighting and couldn't find anything.

I used dead pixel buddy to check using all the colors the pixels should be able to render.

I will keep my eyes on the unit though. If the pixels continue to operate within the first few hours, chances are they will continue to do so.
