Hi, i've heard in many discutions that the resolution on the N6010 wasn't very good for a 17"... can anyone clear that up for me? its a 1440x900 CrystalView Display. Has anyone ever seen the resolution on this computer or a similar one?
How does this lower resolution affect the computer? does it make the text bigger? or more pixelated?

sorry about all those questions but i really need to know...

No, the dispaly will look awesome, nothing will be pixelated. What people complain about is wanting a higher resolution, which in turn makes things like text and icons smaller. 1440 x 900 isn't bad though, it's just different. On a large display like this, I'm not sure ultra high res would make a lot of sense anyway.

Brian, you've mentioned in many threads (I know becuase I'm looking forward to buying a N6010) that Fujitsu's CrystalView is the maybe best display in the industry. Well, yesterday I had a chance to see the 17" CrystalView (I assume at 1440x900 resolution) and all I can say is, you're absolutely right.

t3x, I would recommend that you check out the display in person at a Fry's or Best Buy or wherever. The quality is absolutely breathtaking. And the resolution is just fine. My desktop system right now runs at 1280x960 on a 19" monitor, which I find to be a very comfortable and productive resolution. 1440x900 on a 17" widescreen LCD panel is 5% more pixels in a slightly smaller physical area--in other words, about the same thing in a different shape.

There are some advantages to the 1440x900 format. I've heard people mention that some games will not run at higher resolutions than 1440, either causing the image to become blurry from being scaled up to fit the higher physical resolution, or resulting in a smaller image in the middle of the screen. Plus there's the fact that the graphics card will have to work much harder to drive a 1920x1200 display, which has close to twice the number of pixels (speaking of games of course--in regular Windows use, it's not an issue).

The higher resolutions would be handy if your eyesight is good, and if you really need to see a ton of information at a time, and I do mean a ton. If you just want to see "a lot", and not "a ton", then I think the 1440x900 will be just fine for you. And it looks beautiful.

Eric, glad you agree with me, from the first few words of your post I thought I was in for a fight, LOL. [8D]

    Eric ,

I'm planning ordering it from outside the US , and can't find enough info , If you could return to the shop with a camera and take a few ..

Or could you please give me an opinion about the N6010 ? is the keyboard ugly pearl ? how is the build ? does the underside has HD cover ?
