Did anyone with the N6010 try out the TV tuner feature yet? How is it? I especially want to find out if it was easy making a DVD out of a VHS tape with a VCR. They require me to buy 2 additional cables to get it to work though. An audio cable and a S-Video cable; are they expensive?

You can either spend almost nothing on those cables or $100 for the pair. They're generally not expensive though and the high quality cables add value only to the most detail oriented viewers.

I tried to record VHS tapes in DVD function yesterday. Had the hardest time figuring it out at first. I think the InstantMyMedia is useless if you want to record into DVDs. I went to the instruction book to find out that if you use Instant MyMedia, you can only record using DVD-RAM. I had no idea that was different from DVD-/+R, so I asked my brother and he said those are no longer made[:0]

Then I reread part of the instruction book and it said I can record using DVD-/+R using WIN-DVR (post-bootup of system). I tried it with WIN-DVR and it worked much easier than InstantMyMedia :) WIN-DVR saves it as a mpeg file and then you have to use WinDVD to save the movie into DVD, VCD, etc... It does take quite a while to just format the movie to get it ready for burning though. The burning itself was very fast.

Don't think I will use the TV tuner feature much after converting some of my favorite VHS into DVDs.

    Whew!
