Here's a weird one. Plug in a good ethernet cable and my Local Area Connection status changes from "Enabled" to "Network Cable Unplugged"! Then back again. It goes back and forth. This is odd. I tried the bios switch from Auto to Enabled. Still the same thing.

I even entered the connection addresses manually and still no luck. Of course, this now messes up my Powermac's connection to the LAN. My Dell desktop is fine, though.

Anybody have any thoughts? I have not been able to get my new P5020D to access the internet yet. [ :(]

I can't replicate that. Have you tried wireless? You may also want to look in the device manager for errors.

If you had a wireless problem I would say its Intel's new chipset. Couple solutions were upgrading your router's firmware, making sure your drivers are up to date, and not having windows manage your wireless settings. I know your not talking about wireless, but hopefully this may help [ :)]

Doh![:I]Sorry about that, Fellas. I had the P5020D plugged into the "uplink" port of my router. I am now up and running and surfing the net wired![ :D]In fact, I am responding to this thread from the new toy! This is cool. Now, I need to get another router, bridge, switch or hub to expand my network as I have no ports available!

I'm thinking of going with a Buffalo Wireless setup since I have a couple of ReplayTVs I want to hook up wirelessly and stream to each other and this notebook. (Would be cool to dump recorded shows onto the P5's HD and take them with me, no?

Anyway, thanks for the responses, Brian and Kevin. I'm sure I'll need your advice when I start going wireless! Eek!

But, now that I know I can access the LAN and Internet, I am a happy camper.
