I just got my new 6210 and I love it. It's beautiful and shiney and really light. Thank you all for your comments and community support. You praise was a deciding factor in purchasing this latop.
To date I've only played around with it a little and tested out the Wi-Fi capabilities. It works fine at the house off a neighbors network and works good at school too. Now I've got to upgrade to XP Pro and load all my software, but I'm all excited about having a new toy to play with in the coming months. Thanks again.

You know it's illegal IF you get caught, right?

LOL - yes, do get your own wireless or ask for permission!
Anyway, I continue to be amazed by those who make their first post after they buy! Good luck with it, I'm sure you'll be happy.

I just got my S6220 about two weeks ago. The wireless is a bit iffy. The wireless card works fine when the power cord is plugged in, but when I am trying to use the wireless off of the battery, the wireless is shotty, working much slower than when plugged in. Is anyone aware of a problem like this? Could this be because of my upgraded hardware (7200 rpm 60 HD, 768 RAM, Dothan)? I'm at a loss because the internet is unusuable sometimes when running off the battery.

acordo: i also have the 7k60 HDD and 768mb ram and my wireless works fine with both AC and battery.

I don't think it have anything to do w/ HD or RAM at all. If any it will be your CPU and wireless configuration. Well, most people leave their lappie at the default stage, which usually mean when unplug, it will step down to 600MHz speed. The question is what exactly the CPU was doing during those time? check the task manager when you are unplug, and surfing. It may tell you better of how it goes. If the CPU was running at 100% or very close to, that may be the reason why it seem slow.

Don't worry, I setup a Netgear wireless router last nite with WEP encryption for my own personal use.

Yes....it is generally due to processor throttling when it is on battery. My Sony TR was bad for this, my 6210 is not AS bad. Check out SpeedSwitch XP....it's a freeware program and it works great in this instance.

Your only tradeoff is that it will reduce your battery life.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
is there no way to control (turn off) the batt. power processor step-down in XP? Do you have to use a 3rd party app?

Thanks Rich. Guess I shouldn't be surprised it's not in XP.
