    Hello
I am looking for advise from members here.I have a new,4 week S6240 which was great for 2 weeks and since the last 2 has been overheating and overfanning. The HDD temp after 30min of use is 44-45 C. Is this normal??
I took it fujitsu canada myself and they cannot duplicate the issue they claim. They did not specify if they measured core temp?
    Any suggestions.
This has been quite a letdown considering it is so new and passes over sony to buy a fujitsu but now i am seriously having second thoughts.
    Please help!!!!
    thanks

44 - 45 is very average for HD temperature. Most notebooks I've used are around 44 - 50 in temperature. Except the MacBook. It was like 80C. Just go through all of the reviews in our news and reviews forum and checkout the HD Tune screen shots, you'll see the temperature is almost always in the 50 or so range.

As abaxter said. HDD temperature is normal.

You mentioned the fan is on more often recently. The fan speed is determined by the CPU temp and not the HDD temp.

What sort of CPU temp are you running at? Are they too high?

Finally ambient temperature affects running temps of laptops A LOT. Are you using it in a warmer location than before?

    Thanks abaxter and qwester
There has been notmuch change in ambient temp despite the summer .I definitely find it hotter than before and even the battery life has dropped by about 15-20% .In firstr 2 weeks i would get 4 hours with wifi on and screen at lowest now i get around 3.25-3.5 with same settings .It probably is related to the heat issue isnt it?
What should be the next steplive with it or pursue further .
I have already purchased a notebook cooler which i really didnt need in the first 2 weeks of the purchase
    thanks

    Hi
I have some heat issue for my laptop also, it is N3510. My laptop has a 54 - 59 C for the HDD temp, I purphase a laptop cooler and the temp drops a degree or 2 only. Since I didn't turn on my air conditioner at home, so I won't complain too much.

Also my battery went from 3 hours of usage to only 1 hours for fully charged.

The laptop is about 1 and half years old.

chewy, that's pretty normal for a battery. Mine did the same thing and I asked Ivan at P1 about it. He said most laptop batteries will start to seriously degrade between 12 and 18 months, which is why they are only ever covered by 1 year warranty. Incidentally, he also told me that even if you bought an extra one at time of purchase and never used it, the capacity would degrade after that amount of time. Moral of story: don't buy extra battery until first one is dead.
