A month after the end of the warranty period, my machine started to lock up and afterwards shutdown. The fan is constantly on. No help from Fujitsu because warranty is over. Brought it to their local tech support and paid them to look at it. Not surprised, they could not find anything wrong and claimed they put a load on it. Brought it home, surfed the web, then shutdown. I am sure that it is overheating. To do any dvd burning, I have to blow a fan directly into the vent. Very unhappy with this machine and Fujitsu.
Enough of my venting, does anyone know how to step down the processor speed? The BIOS does not allow for any modifications.
Any suggestions on lower the speed and heat will be much appreciated.

It sounds to me like there's a process running that is messing with the computer. I'd back up your data then do a clean install and start over.

Thanks Brian for the response. That was my original thought. Did the backup, formatted and reloaded the OS twice. Still does it. If the room is warm, I'll be idling at 80 deg. C.

Andy2000, unfortuneately I'm having the same problem. I purchased a Targus Notebook ChillHub, but that has not resulted in the fan coming on any less.

I haven't opened it up, but am wondering if there could be an excessive amount of dust that has accumulated. Also, does anyone know of any CPU coolers/fans that fit in notebooks just in case it is not dust that is causing the problem?
