I have been alerted by industry contacts that a new P7000 is coming. The update will include Sonoma, though beyond that I have no other details.

I hope they redo the lid with a latch to lock it down instead of being spring loaded, not that I would get one now since I'm happy with mine, even with my minor gripes about it.

Isn't that the current S7010 or the one on either Fujitsu's website or PortableOne a Sonoma platform?? It has 915 Chipset, P-M w/ 533MHz FSB, DDR2 533MHz and Express PCI card, Serial ATA HD ...etc?

The update will probably a minor CPU upgrade, not a major one ...

It's the P7000 not the S7000 series ... the ultra portable with 10.6" screen.

Hoping for a white option :D

I think the Japanese version and European version of it was a cream color.

I actually like the lid as-is. I don't think we'll see anything beyond incremental updates this time, that includes no white shell, but again, I don't present this as fact, just my opinion.

Any thoughts on when this refresh might be coming? Back to school (September)? Christmas holidays?

Since you suggest it is a minor refresh I am hoping sooner rather than later...

    Thanks.

Should be soon, but no one has moved to the Sonoma for ULVs yet, Fujitsu will probably be the first.

LeoG forums have links to the P7000 replacement?

    LeoG

    Akihabara News (with pics)

    Specs listed as:

Processor no change (Pentium M Ultra Low Voltage 753 1.20 GHz, 2 MB L2 cache, 400MHz FSB)
    BIOS Phoenix cME FirstBIOS
    Chipset 915GMS Express
    MemorySlot DDR2 SDRAM PC2-3200 Micro DIMM x 2
Display 10.6" wide-format Crystal View XGA LCD (1280 x 768 resolution) LED back light
Video Chipset GMA900 128MB (shared with main memory)
HDD 60 GB hmm... not selectable... maybe 1.8"...
    Audio Chipset
    USB 2.0 x 3
Dim & Wgt. 271?~209.5?~24.3/28.3mm 1.37kg attn. units are different.
    CF slot none
    CPU fan none

I must say I am a little disappointed by the no CF cards slot. And you can't swap out hard drives. Otherwise looks interesting.

Anyone have any more data? Thoughts?

I don't know what's true and what's not, but I think this is a big step in the wrong direction. I'll still buy one, but the 1.8" drive, if true, is a dumb decision. They've just eliminated a core advantage over the Sony T. The fanless design sounds good though, if it doesn't burn a hole in my leg.

I am not too crazy about fanless designs :( even though the CPU is still the good old ULV that doesn't heat up much, the 915 chipset should be expected to produce a bit more heat than the 855. This being such a tiny laptop to be used all over the place and especially not over a desk (at least for me!) heat build up, especially during the summer, becomes a major issue.

If the HDD and fanless specs are true, then I guess I might just wait until the new models are officially announced and make use of the price drop on the old ones and get it, cause to me the current P7010 is an absolute beauty in every singly domain when it comes to ultra lights, and it seems it cannot get any better :p ... maybe that's why fujitsu decided to go in the wrong direction ;)
