Came across this post at Leog.net http://www.leog.net/fujp_forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5855

Looks like the Super Drive is either delayed or cancelled; it's not real clear. I hope it's just a delay as that was one of my main reasons for pursuing this system.

I think it's a delay. You could always import if you get desperate.

I have considered that. Do you think there is a possibility of a Dual Layer drive being introduced in the same form factor? That would be GREAT!!! Well, the P7 is on a truck for delivery...and I'm in my friggin office today. No matter, I guestimate I should be home by 6 which will leave me plenty of time to head over to UPS for a pick-up. The excitement builds...

Geez, you still don't have it? That will teach you to order direct!

Dual layer...maybe, the drive is tiny int he P7000 though, I don't know if that impacts the possibility of dual or not. But you're asking a guy that never, not once, used the CD burner in the P5020 over 7 months.

these are not desktop replacements so I can't understand what a dvd drive is needed for in the first place. It not like you are going to me making copies of rented movies when you are in a airplane or something.

I only use the drive to install windows after that every thing else comes across the network.

Yes, there is little practicality in having a DVD burner on a machine so small. I actually do use the burning features of most of my machines...evenly split between personal and work use. When giving readouts or reviewing reports, it helps to be able to share the information right at that point. I could wait until I get access to a network but sometimes information is time sensitive or sensitive in nature. At other times, the amount of information needed makes it inpractiable to send it over the Internet through e-mail. So a CD/RW fills the gaps. Will I do the same with DVD/RW...no...I've never had to share THAT much information in one session. No, I just want the DVD/RW drive...jsut because...[)]
