So I just got my P7000 today, with 256M (love it). I want to order a memory upgrade for this, but I'm a bit confused.

The Fujitsu website says that the laptop can only go up to 1G (2x512). Will a (1x256 + 1x512 = 768) configuration work with this laptop?

Also, this 512Meg upgrade is $306 from the fujitsu store, which is pretty expensive (I guess it's because of the micro-DIMM format). Are there any other stores which sell this RAM for cheaper? (I couldn't find any)

    Thanks for any info!

Right on Fujitsu's website you can configure it with one 256MB module and one 512MB module.

Thanks zazonz! That's exactly what I was looking for... just ordered another 512M of ram, which should be enough.

How hard is it to upgrade the HD on one of these? How buried is it internally? Does it use a standard notebook-sized HD?

    Thx!

The memory is easy. There is a panel on the bottom. Pop the screws off and place the stick in the open slot. I didn't see anyways to upgrade the hard drive in the manual. When they make it hard to do, it sometimes means they don't want you to. You may want to consult with Fujitsu on this in regards to you warranty. I know there's a few people around here that have the P7000, maybe you could do a post upgrading the hard drive. It does however use 2.5" drive so I would think it is upgradeable. Good Luck.

You can actually run with up to 2GB. Anyway, where did you buy the RAM? I found it very difficult to find the right size.

I bought it from 4allmemory.com (link in zazonz's post). Regarding the memory size, I was a bit confused there, since some sites say 2GB max, and some say 1GB max. Oh well... 768M will be plenty for my needs.
