    Hey,

If you guys have either notebook with a 5400rpm hd and ABOVE...post your AVERAGE battery life with the brightness you PERSONALLY use. Keep in mind that full brightness is great at home but is not practical using battery. Feel free to include what you get with the modular battery but I'm really just concerned with standard battery life.

Fujitsu lists the P7000 at 7 hours (avg)
Fujitsu lists the S6000 at 4 hours (avg)

I'm to get an average number for user opinions and put it agianst Fujitsu's average.

    Be honest, thanks in advance!

I have an S6231 with a 7200 RPM HD and 1GB RAM; on battery I use the lowest brightness and I usually get about 3 hours (this is with Wi-Fi on as well)

thanks nes. Does the screen still look great (since fujitsu is known for its screens) on lowest brightness setting?

Come on guys, these forums are dominated by s6000 and p7000 users.
    Dont be shy![ ;)]

I've never timed it myself. But the battery indicator usually says anywhere from 3.5 - 4.5 hrs at full charge.

    I have the S7010D.

On full brightness you don't get more than 1.5 hours.

On medium brightness (which is more than adequate) you get approx 3.5 hours.

    I had 1.8 P M with 60GB 7200 RPM drive.

on the lower settings the screen is still useable but definately suffers from extremely small viewing angles. The four corners get darker and it just isn't fun to use, although if you are trying to save as much battery and doing that for a reason then people shouldn't really mind. All in all, make sure to have it plugged in as much as possible because on teh highest setting the screen is dynamic. I just wish that it had a higher resolution. That is what is really holding it back from being better than the XBrite, however the Sony's don't have a 14" model with Fujitsu's weight so it was a no brainer for me.

On my P7 I operate at 6/8 brightness on battery. I have dual batteries and get 4-5 hours.

    thank you all.[ :D]

In Brian's case is it safe to conclude that one would get 2-2.5 hours on 6/8 brightness on 1 battery?

I hate to get off topic in my own thread, but I'm coming deadly close to buying the P7010D.

Brian can you tell me how much weight the modular battery adds? I can't seem to find the weight.

EDIT - I have someone who claims the weight is 7.7 oz.

    So 3.0lbs + 0.48lbs = 3.48lbs.
    NOT BAD AT ALL!

    Thnx guys

The difference in weight between the modular optical drive and the modular battery aint that much. At least not too large to make a difference in a portable device such as the P7.

On battery weight, if you want to feel how heavy a heavy battery can be you should get your hand on an N6010 12-cell Lithium ion battery 14.8V, 6600 mAh, 97.8 Watt hour (Yes more capacity than the 2 batteries of the P7 combined, but only lasts +90mins). This thing weighs close to 2 pounds!

As noted the second battery adds less than an ounce when compared to teh optical drive...from what I understand. If you go on Fujitsu's site and use the chat help, they might be able to tell you for sure. It's a really nice machine, if you want an ultra portable.

First charge I was up to 3 hours on battery (main only, haven't installed bay battery yet) installing programs from the web. Plugged it back in at about 20% left. I'm really going to enjoy this notebook, I can tell.

I have the S7011. I get about 4 hours battery, sometimes more. depending on what i do. I use this program battery doubler, it limits ur processing power to lowest, screen brightness to the lowest. and does increase battery life. have a look at it :p i think it's great. I also use speedswitchXP, that also helps, can actually control if u want dynamic switching or MAX baterry or MAx performance.
    Hope this helps you.

Just booted up with both batteries fully charged. Tray icon says 8 hours 34 minutes battery life. Don't have real usage numbers yet though.

On my Fujitsu P7010D with 5400rpm 60GB drive, standard battery only (i.e., no drivebay battery), and 4/8 bars on brightness, I generally get close to 3 hours from full charge to red light warnings. I carry a spare battery to swap as needed.

Went to the dealer today for 15k mi service. Took 6231 and was looking forward to the wait because they have free WIFI in their waiting areas. Problem was that I was an hour early, so I walked to the IHOP and had the deluxe stuffed crepes special. By the time I returned to the now open waiting areas and logged in to the netgear router and started surfing, I also started nodding off from the big breakfast. Retired to the tv room where kids where throwing things and tried to get comfortable on the cushioned chairs. Read a few more pages in the 6231 manual, but felt too sleepy to do more surfing. Oh well, I'll be returning in June for state inspection and oil change so will have another chance to surf then.

Sure is nice to be able to leave the power adapter home and not have to hunt for an outlet since the internal batteries rock!
