For those of you checking this forum to learn some more about the P7010 and are a little bit scared of the price don't fear a solution is here.

Check out Fujitsu's Refurb page they have a bunch of P7010 but only one at the super low price of $1199. Don't forget to call and have them apply an extra $100 off for buying a refurb, check the Fujitsu Offers and Specials section for more details.

The only draw back to this system is that is has only 1MB of cashe, which is nto a big deal. But it does come with XP Pro.

Good luck to the lucky person that gets it. Remember jsut because it's in your shopping cart doesn't mean it's yours.

There are actually a bunch of P7010s offered. The one you mentioned is probably the best deal. I just picked one up yesterday, and it is still on the site so they must have more. I wish there was some way around paying tax.

I got mine with a modular battery. I'll be adding a 7k60 and a 512Mb MDIMM and I should be fine. Does anyone know if 1.25Gb RAM vs. 768Mb RAM makes a big difference on this laptop (Banias 713 1.1Ghz)? The price difference is significant.

Now I just have to find a good sleeve for it and a good deal on the 7k60.

There was a deal on a P7010D Dothan for $1299 (including coupon) a couple of day ago, but someone snatched it. I was watching it for a while. Others might keep a close eye in case it comes back. The $100 off coupon ends on 2/28, so a better one or nothing might follow it.

512MB is the bare minimum I'd get, I run 1GB with the 72k60. 768 should be fine though. You could always swap out the other 256 with a 512 in the future.

That's pretty much the most sensible option with a lappy that comes with 256 megs.
