Wife decided on smaller screen, prefers P7000 series.
Does not need finger print ID feature.
Wants notebook for mobility, lightness and use in her home based small business.
What upgrades on the basic unit do you gurus recommend?
    Thanks.

Depends on what the use is...if it's just the basics, I'd get 512MB on one chip so you have the option to add more later. If it's within budget, moving up to a faster HDD is good too. That's it...

one more thing. If she needs it to stay on for long times while away from a power socket, the second modular battery will be a good upgrade.

It can be placed instead of the optical drive ... it's exchangable with the optical drive, so you can have either at anytime.

A really cool thing is that there are programs where you can rip a CD or DVD onto the hard drive. So for example, you could rip some DVD movies onto the hard drive, replace the optical drive with the modular battery and have hours of DVD watching pleasure.

Sounds perfect. I would make sure to get XP Home though.

    She'll need accessories:
Is that a modular bay battery?
Any suggestions for a carrying case or sleeve?
She can decide later about a wired, wireless, or touchpad mouse?
    Docking station??
    Anything else?
Thanks a bunch, Brian, and others-----Patrick

Well, a modular battery is nice, best price I found was on ecost.com

As for a case and such, that's so personal I think you might leave it up to her. Most backpacks and such come with padded sleeves to protect the machines in transport. As for mice and the like, you're oustide of the Fujitsu forum for those, check the accessories threads.
