I know, there are some losses with the new model, but I ordered one anyway, I like the pain. Should have it before the end of the month, will do a full review of course.

Really? I can't believe what they did to it. The back side and speaker location are really weird. Did it get bigger, do you know? I did notice that P1 is selling it with a 6 cell battery. Will that stick out more in some direction? I will be interested to know what you think of it compared to the older model.

I could never go back to 4200RPM. It would drive me mental, not that I need any help there. I liked on P1's site, $1900 to upgrade to 2GB of memory. Did you go for the 2GB?

Gawd, if only I had the cash, I'd be all over this sleek and sexy ultraportable!!!

Brian, it seems as though you're a real Fujitsu fan, I see you tend to buy every revision and release of Fujitsu's P series.

The 6-cell is the battery you see in the pictures. It protrudes out the rear but it fits flush with the speakers which are behind the screen. I ordered mine yesterday and hope to receive it next week or the week after. That micro-dimm DDR2 is freakin expensive. I coughed up $300 to upgrade to 1 GB (512 X 2). I like the P series as well. This will be my third one. Hope it's as good as it sounds (minus the poky hd).

The old P's have 6-cell batteries so I can't imagine this will stick out much, if at all. I do love the P series, I don't think there's a better ultra portable on the market. If Sony figures out a way to get the Verizon service integrated though, that might be enough to swing me to that family.

How would you compare P7120 with P1 UX?

The UX is a little heavier (3.4 pounds with 3 cell battery/4 pounds with 9 cell) but it is a 12.1" regular screen versus a 10" widescreen. Personally, I think the UX is the best compromise between weight/portability and function, with a great screen, great keyboard, and still has everything built in with a durable, reliable build. The P7120 is a little smaller and a little lighter, but you lose screen size, keyboard size and some performance (different chipset/processor/hard drive, etc.). I think the slight increase in weight and size offset the other issues, and opted for the UX, but others feel differently. If you are choosing between the two units, I think the most objective comparisons and advice would be gotten from Portableone- give them a call- they sell both units, and will be better able to help you with the comparisons and figure out what is the best solution for you, rather than the personal biased advice you get here.

I like the P because for me, the lighter weight is worthwhile. I also love the display and the small size, since I travel a good deal. As noted though, the UX is a very good unit as well, just depends on the need.

the back end is a little weird, but i'm hopeful about the speaker location. the speakers on a friend's mac 12" powerbook are in the back something like that and i was amazed at how nice they sounded (at least compared to the WEAK mono speaker in my dell latitude c400).

i'm eager to hear the review of the p7120. i've been holding off replacing my c400 for this unit. my one requirement is it'll have to support linux (FC4) without extraordinary hacking and patching.

Mine is in, have spent 2 days with it. I really love the styling, makes my old P look so ****ed fat, even though the size difference is pretty small. They've done a few nice things and honestly, I really don't feel the slowdown with the 4200 RPM drive. So far I really love it, having a fanless computer is great.
