Hi, i own a Fujitsu P772 and want to to get a bluray drive UJ-272. This computer came with a second battery. To buy the BD drive from Fujitsu cost 305 euros and it is much less on ebay, so i would like to purchase it on ebay.

I need to purchase a BD bezel, Panasonic bezel for this model as it doesn't take a standard bezel. This is a bit of a long shot but does anyone know where i could purchase this from?

The bezel for the 2nd battery is different. I think that i may just have to purchase a supermulti dvd and use the bezel, but that is my 2nd option and more costly one doing it that way.

I also intend to upgrade to an SSD drive and that will be the extent of my upgrades. Does anybody know of the lowest power consumption good performer SSD that i should buy. I have used Samsung's in the past and have had a good experience with them, but i'm not so sure what is on the market now. I have a Samsung 470 PM810 in my Sony TT.

I'm very pleased with the P772. I haven't dismantled this laptop yet, but doing so seems pretty straightforward and similar to the P771 which i do have a service manual for.

I purchased a Samsung 250 EVO drive from Amazon and that was a good price. I've also bought a new dvd supermulti UJ8B2 and i've decided to use the supermulti for now without a bezel. I will be using the 2nd battery predominantly. It only cost me £20 so i went with that, i do have a BD drive in my Sony TT and i can install the BD software via usb to my laptop.

Fujitsu does not provide bezel separately, they are bundled with spare odd drives only. :(

To be honest, I removed the DVD drive from my P770, and have not missed it.

I have a Blu-Ray burner in my home PC. Except for a few experiments, it has only been used to burn CDs and very, very few DVDs.

Overall, I think optical media is being supplanted by streaming and online resources and flash memory devices.

When I purchased the drive bay to replace the optical drive on my P770, I had to modify it a bit. Used a rotary tool (Dremel clone) to open up where the SD reader sits.

Thanks rfielder. This laptop is so fast with the SSD.
I bought the dvd supermulti that i mentioned above. I'm not confident enough to try the rotary tool and i will be away from home for a while. The lack of the bezel started to get to me, i saw a P771 drive on ebay that comes with a bezel so i purchased that. The drive that was used was a Toshiba Samsung drive. I just hope that the bezel fits. If i have problems with it will post about it.

    edited to add:
Before i purchased the P771 I bought two bezels on ebay but they did not fit. The bezels i bought is number 7 and 8 that you can see from the photos.

    ................
I had no problems using the P771 drive in a P772.

Rachel - may I ask why you need a BluRay drive?

rfidler, i'm making do with a dvd drive right now. I still buy DVD's and Bluray media and i find the internal dvd more convenient than an external drive. Topping it out to the high end model would have been nice if i could have done it on a shoestring, but i'm not paying what Fujitsu charge for them.

Rachel - when viewing media on my P770, I rip it on my main system, then copy the files to the drives in the P770. With 1.5Tb of SSD, I can carry a few movies or TV shows.

Agreed that internal drives are far more convenient, and that manufacturers overcharge for some peripherals!

Rachel - what was the final result? Did you find a BD drive for your P772?

Hi rfielder, no i didn't find a BD for my P772. My laptop came with a second internal battery, and i ended up buying a dvd drive for the P771 and just using that in my P772.
