Hello all, on my last day here in Hong Kong I got the laptop that I was searching for today. I will be bringing home a brand new P7010 Fujitsu laptop to go along with my Acer model. I plan to travel with the Fujitsu more now since it is a much smaller laptop than my Acer model.

I got it for a pretty good price much better than buying one in Canada and was purchased from an authorized Fujitsu dealer here in Hong Kong so no worries about off shore models and or refurbished models. It is BRAND NEW!!!!

I haven't done too much with it yet and will play aroud with it more once I return to Canada tomorrow. I'll post the details when I get home. Right now I'm playing a DVD and am VERY happy with the performance of it. :D :D :D :D

    Tony (happy P7010 owner) ;)

I have never found the computer prices in HK to be cheaper than what I can get here in the US. I was last there a month ago and since I was looking for an N6010 at the time, I checked the prices. My experience was consistent with what I have found with computers and electronics in general before. I could get a price as good as or better here.

I paid CAN$2400 for my P7010. I was expecting prices to be even lower than what I could get here in Canada but generally the prices were similiar except I don't have to pay taxes. When I returned home Sat. customs was no problem, brought it back no duty or taxes.

I had internet with me while there (brought my Acer with me) and was checking out prices here back home and the price I paid for my P was consistant with what I would pay here - the tax (15%).

Actually going by the price listed here at this store in Toronto:

    http://notebookdepot.com/product.asp?productid=453054511&categoryid=1

I actually paid quite a bit less, and going by newegg's price:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16834110142

I paid a little more, but newegg doesn't ship to Canada and I wouldn't have been able to take advantage of the extra $100 mail in rebate.

The specs of my P is a little different, mine is a Centrino 1.1G Dothan, with 512mb ram, 60G HD, DVD/CD-RW, Intel integrated graphics and XP-home. The 100Mhz less processor isn't a concern with me it works pretty good for what I will be using it for, easier portability with email and net access. My P also came with the Fujitsu soft case in the box not sure if NA models have that or not + it has a nice soft cloth in a case for cleaning the screen. Overall I'm very happy with it.

Gildor, where did you look in HK for your Fujitsu computers? The prices here in HK are all over the map depending on where you look. Going into a retail chain like Broadway or Fortress World you will pay a premium for a laptop. My P in those stores ended up costing like CAN$3000 (not a deal at all). I got mine at Wise computer centre at the Mongkok computer centre (authorized Fujitsu dealer here in HK) and after talking with the guy there I even got a bit of a discount on it.

edit: forgot to add that it also has the fingerprint sensor thingie.

Tony, this trip I was looking around in the computer center in Wan Chai, although I have shopped Mongkok in the past. My comments above are based on the prices down here in the US where the mail order prices (and even some retail prices) are quite good. I am not sure what the situation is for you folks up there in Canada.
