    Hey fellas,

I have read some unexpected weak comments about the S7010 on CNET. I don't want to rely on their words so I've come here.

I've zoned in on Fujitsu because a beautiful display is very important to me in a laptop. I've heard the CV displays are among the best. I also want a machine that will run rock solid (currently using a Toshiba Satellite from '97, I can't kill the thing if I wanted to!) with good performance to boot.

Newegg is running a S7010 for 1249 after rebate. I'm thinking about pulling the trigger, however, I could save my money and wait for Fujitsu to refresh and instead pick up an IBM T41 lightly used on Ebay for around 800-900 with identical specs.

Any advice is welcome. Any experiences with the S7 series?
    Vin

The S7 is a nice model, but so is the T41, sort of depends on what you want. If the display is important to you, the Fujitsu is worlds better than IBM. As for CNET, I really don't put a lot of stock in their reviews. They do rediculous things, like compare the N3510 to The Qosimo, complaining the Fujitsu's display is too small...come on, they're not even in the same class!

    Brian,

Any major reliability or performance issues that I should be aware of before I purchase the S7?

I will use it half as a desktop replacement and half as a mobile laptop on travel. Needs to be able to run simple photoshop work, dreamweaver, web surfing and office work. I have a stick of 512MB 333 ready and a Hitachi 7200 RPM drive too. Just worry a little about how stable the machine will be.

But I bet the difference in display would be tremendous between the S7 and the T41.

I have had an s7010 for about 6 months now and I could not be happier. It is a wonderful laptop. The screen is great. Not CV or anything else fancy. I regret not getting a dvd writer and second battery for the dvd bay though.

The battery life is wonderful and it works like a charm. I spent hours agonising over which machine to buy and I have no regrets. Wonderful laptop. Especially now that you can get it with a CV or high res screen. It is robust and solid. Goes in and out of my bag 10 times a day.

Would gladly recommend this light and hardy laptop

this is helpful. I have been looking at the P7010 versus sony vaio s60 or T150. Any thoughts? Also, what is the difference between the P7000 series and the fujitsu Sseries? I have been a Dell owner for a long time and am leaning toward fujitsu. All thoughts are greatly appreciated.
    thanks,
    Lori

P7000 series is a 10.6 screen. If you are looking for portability and long battery life it is a very good computer to consider.

S Series has a faster processor and full size keyboard. If you plan to do lots of typing without using a USB keyboard, keyboard size may be something you want to consider.

Lori, you're off topic, please start a new thread.

shu - there are no major hardware or support issues to be concerned about.

    Thanks Brian,

I think I'm going to purchase a S7010 off newegg for 1249 right now. I'll throw a copy of XP PRO on it and upgrade the ram to a Gig. I even have a hitachi 7200 drive waiting.

It should be able to run photoshop and I really need the screen to be accurate and clear for the light graphic work I do.

    Can't wait.
Thanks for your comments and support.
