I just got my new S7010 on Tuesday, and I love it. The only thing that's sort of bothering me is the screen. As this is my very first laptop purchase, I'm not exactly sure if it's really a problem or not. The thing is the lower part of the screen is quite a bit brighter than the upper part of the screen. I can still see everything just fine, but it's kind of irritating. I had PortableOne do a full check on the screen before they shipped the laptop to me, so you would think they would have noticed if the screen was messed up in any way. Is this "brightness gradient" I'm seeing normal for laptop screens?

Can you take a picture with no flash showing the gradient? The viewing angle can change the brightness, but I guess you tried adjusting the viewing angle by tilting the screen back and up to experiment.

Are look looking straight into the screen? O degrees?

try going in a dark room, and leveling the notbook's screen to eye level, it should not bleed light, but if it does, talk about returning the laptop

Yeah, I definitely tried experimenting with different angles. I could find a "sweetspot" where the gradient was hardly noticeable, but it never totally went away.

sutheep, what do you mean by "level the screen to eye level"? Do you mean the screen should be perpendicular to the floor, or parallel?
