I had the Fujitsu for about 3 weeks, and i've been testing it a lot lately. They only problem that i've found was that the dvd player cant recognize some burned dvds. Ex: i placed a burned dvd disc that consists of a couple japanese shows into the drive, and it wouldnt even read it. I also tried a burned Anime movie, but i get no sound out of it. I thought it might be the dvd, but it works perfectly when i place it into my comp. Not sure what the problem is, i was wondering if someone else had experience or have any knowledge on the problem.

Oh, and on a sidenote, i was planning to upgrade one part of my Fujitsu. I have 256mbx2 ram and 40gig 4200rpm hd. I was thinking about getting a stick of 512 and replacing one of the 256 to equal 768mb of ram. And replacing the 40gig 4200rpm hd with a 40 or 60gig 7200rpm hd. My question is that which upgrade would make more of a significant speed increase to my notebook? I was only planning to upgrade one for now until i have some splurge $ to upgrade the other.

The HDD upgrade will be more noticable during boot and program loading, etc. The RAM will help you a bit more for things like games, running apps.

Have you tried installing the codec for these Japanese or Anime movies/videos? Because that can be a case of the problem. And also what kind of DVD blank media type are you using? Because on the DVD-ROM drive it can't read certain types as well.

djxtamster, normally i use vlc player to play most of my media because it can play lots of video files i throw at it. Im sure i have all the right codecs because i moved all of the japanese video files from the dvd into my external hd and plugged it into my notebook and it runs perfectly. So im thinking it's the DVD media, normally i use nothing but Ridata DVD-R. I have never had any problem w/ Ridata media before. I tried my Band of Brothers dvd that's a Ridata media and it works fine. It seems like my fujitu dvd player is very picky on what it accepts. LOL

Hmm that is very strange. I use the same media and brand as well but I haven't got a problem like this before.

And also the harddrive is best choice for an upgrade like Brian said, its the best performance gain money can buy [ :D]

Everything will drop in standby, including power to USB ports.

I have been looking at the 6210 to buy and I am not sure if its really worth the money. I wanted a CD and a DVD burner. Do you feel like there are problems with the DVD? Do you like the computer over all? I heard that it gets pretty hot after an hour. I also was looking at getting the main memory with 256 and extended memory with 256 so that I could get 512 total. Is the 512 not very fast? A you can see I am not very computer "savy" Any thoughts you can offer would be great. Thanks

pinkyastro, so far ive only had 2 problems so far out of all the burned dvd's i've placed into the cd/dvd player. So im thinking it's just the dvd media. So far, im very pleased w/ my S6210. It took me about a year to finally make my decision on my first notebook. I first wanted the S6120D, then a Toshiba Tecra M2, a Sony, and finally i made the decision on the S6210 because ive always been drawn to Fujitsu notebooks. My notebook gets fairly hot, especially where the hardrive is, but i dont get bothered by it too much or ever. The S6231 is a newer version of the S6210 and i heard it is better at dispersing heat. For me 512mb isnt enough, because i dont have much patience on waiting for apps loading and etc. I like things to be done very quickly. It just depends on what you are using your notebook for. Because if your just looking for a small light notebook to use everday to surf the net, than its more than powerful enough to handle the job. Im pretty surprised how fast it is. Hope that helps, if u have any other questions on my experience on the S6210, than ill try to answer it as best as i can.
