    Hi everybody!
I am new here, my nephew want me buy him a Q2010 as his birth-gift, but after I read it's specification, I was told that it's memory-on-board, and no memory upgrade available, however I saw ZAZ said "There is likely another slot for adding memory somewhere." um... could anyone please make this clear for me ?
I think a notebook with 2GB memory would be more suitable as a gift.
    Thanks !

If you are talking RAM what it means is you have to pull at least some of the RAM in there out to make space. But 2GB's (2X1GB) RAM costs about $80 so not that bad, maybe you can sell the other RAM get some money back.

The memory for Q2010 is soldered on board and is of non-standard form factor. What ZaZ suggested is that there "may" be another empty slot on the mainboard which you may utilize, but there is indeed none. So in short, you can not upgauge your memory.

Btw, since all Q2010 comes with XP, IIRC, 2GB is not crucial. You will do perfectly fine with 1Gb option.

    Thanks ecofreak and powerpack.

ecofreak, you are right, XP will doing good with 1GB, I was just considering to ensure Q2010 still work fine with Vista.

Though the 1GB RAM may give you a "somehow bearable" working vista, its crawling 4200rpm hard drive will definitely set you back with vista's indexing and other constant I/O accessing needs. If you absolutely need vista, I will suggest you to swap that slow HD out with a SSD as I did on mine. The difference is like night and day

Hi, yeah, its flying with XP and SSD! Although no option to add RAM, ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=1929072#post1929072) I had Vista on it, it worked great, aero and everything, had an 2,9 index. But I dont like Vista too much, so sticking to XP with zonealarm and kaspersky...never had securiy issues with this combination.
