After a long search I've finally decided to buy a Fujitsu n3511 tonight. My question is, if I get the lowest configuration of RAM (256x2) I can replace BOTH sticks, right? Not just one? I would like to put one 1gb stick in to start out with and then add another later on, is this fine even though it comes with two sticks?
Thanks!

Yes, that's perfectly fine. You can even leave one of the 256MB sticks in to have 1.25GB of RAM until you can afford the other gig. Just know that you'll lose dual-channel if the two sticks don't match, although the speed difference isn't that significant.

Yes you can do that on the N3511 since both modules are accessable thru the bottom of the notebook. And it will work fine with just one stick of RAM. You will just have it running in single channel instead of dual, which causes little to no loss in perf anyway.

Awesome, thanks guys!

Geoffrey,
You may be able to get 1x256 to save you $30. Esp if you're getting it from Portable One, which you should based on their dead pixel policy alone. It's not on their website, but if you call or email them, you should be able to get it. If you email them, ask for an estimate, and tell them the specs for all the things that you can change on the website.
