I have an N5010 and need to bump up to 2GB RAM. What brands are you having success with? I keep seing this Kingmax ram ($198), but I don't know if it will work in my machine. I have only been able to find corsair system select ($270), kingston system select ($360), swissbit ($304), and crucial ($370) sticks verified for my machine. I can't afford a $400 mistake, but I would really love to save $200. Any help out their for me?
Edit:
Silveraxis, I see you bought 2GB RAM. What brand did you buy for your N6010?

At those prices I like the Corsair, not familiar with Kingmax at all.

I'm using Kingmax in my fujitsu. Works just fine. For the money you save, it's absolutely worth it.

Thanks Brian and Nesbo. Any other knowlegeable opinions out there? I hope for more than two [

Good question, I had P1 upgrade the 2x512 to 2x1G when I bought it, the cost was $350 which seems reasonable and I do need the RAM. You might try giving them a call to see what they recommend.

Thanks Silveraxis. I thought you had done it yourself. P1 suggests swissbit.
I think I am actually leaning towards KingstonValueRAM. On paper it pulls the least current. Spec sheets from swissbit show IDD0 = 2000mA, KingstonValueRAM spec sheet shows 4.400W (1/2.5V) = 1760mA.
Kingmax doesn't list IDD0, but does have IDD2P = 80mA and IDD5 = 5520mA. Swissbit shows 50 and 5500mA, respectively. That leads me to guess that the IDD0 = 2025 for Kingmax.
Otherwise, they all seem to have nearly identical numbers (tRAS, tCK, etc.).
I couldn't find data sheets for ANY of the corsair sodimms, nor for the Kingston system select sodimms. -
i just got a 512 stick of value corsair ram for my S6231 and it works perfect. they have a good lifetime warrenty too

Thanks for the opinions. I ended up getting KingstonValueRAM for $215 each, since it drew the least current. This machines doesn't need anymore heat! The only bummer is that I sat on this long enough for zipzoomfly to run out, so I ended up buying from outpost.com which must have a store where I live because I got stuck paying tax [
] - another $35. I also got stuck paying for shipping, another $10, where as zipzoomfly had free 2-day shipping.

RAM actually arrived overnight. I'm surprised and relieved based on the reviews of outpost.com on resellerratings.com. Kingston Value RAM works great and now I can solve finite element models in a few hours that weren't solving in 24 (pagefile on HDD was just too slow)! Woohoo! Let's hear it for NO pagefile! Anybody want 2 x 256MB pc2700 micron sodimm?[
] Real cheap!
RAM upgrade- suggested brands?
