    Dear All,

Am getting ready to replace my Fujitsu P-2046 256/20. It has been a joy to work with, but eventually found the Crusoe a bit too slow, and a bit cranky on coming out of hibernation and booting. These problems seem to have grown worse over time, but all in all I was thrilled with looks, utility and performance.

Can anyone help me choose where to go next? I mostly use for paper writing, presentations, surfing, and large dataset analysis (mostly in Stata, but I have access to workstation in office). Travel a lot, so don't want to go over 4.5lbs, <3.8 would be even better. I really loved having the CD-RW, but this has become less crucial w/ advent of USB 2.0 memory sticks. Wi-Fi is important.

I'm currently leaning towards IBM X31/X40, but don't want to give up on Fujitsu P, and might still consider S. Also been thinking about Actius and Toughbook, but can't figure out where to demo these in the Denver/Boulder, CO area. Any other ideas? I tend to be Sony-averse, as most seem to be here as well.

Thanks in advance for any help,
    Randall

Radall, you have S6000 series written all over you, maybe the P5020, but you might not like the tiny size. A quirky consideration would be the T3000, their convertible tablet which solves your handwriting issue as well. What do you think?
