Has anyone been inside their S2110, and pondered the idea of upgrading the MT-28 in their notebook to perhaps an MT-34 (~$185) or such? Is there a warranty conflict if this was done?

for sure that will void your warranty. Fujitsu are picky enough to consider the HDD not user upgradable although it is so easy to do, so a cpu exchange is a void warranty.

I cannot see why it cannot be done, although you might run into problems since the cooling system is designed for the less heat producing MT-28.

If Fujitsu are consistent through out their models, which they tend to be, that CPU will be exchangable. It might require a bit of tinkering to remove, but you should be able to. I know someone here exchanged the CPU on the N3510. I already took my system apart completely, and my CPU also rests in a socket and is easily removable once you manage to remove the heatsink, which requires a full disassembly.

I don't know that there's much benefit though. The bottleneck in that machine is the GPU.
