    Hi

    Hope everyone's doing fine

    I haven't been on here in ages as I forgot my password lol

    Anyway please could someone help me with some memory questions

    Will the Lifebook S6120 be able to take a 1GB module or will I have to buy 2 x 512?

    Where is the second memory bay?

    Cheers

    The max memory is two gigabytes. The second memory slot is probably located under the keyboard.

    actually i'm pretty sure the memory is located under a panel on the bottom of the laptop. i have a s6010 and that's where it is. also i download the instruction manual for that model and it also mention the memory is under a pannel on the bottome of the laptop.

    your lucky, because unless they changed these things (they might have?) the keyboards don't come off very easily. Too bad, because i would like to change wifi card on the new one i buy (6231 or 6240?) for a atheros.

    cheers,
    Randolph

    From Fujitsu:

    SPECS S6120:
    Memory

    * DDR 266 so-DIMM, 200 pin SDRAM
    * 2 DIMM slots; upgradeable to 2 GB total memory (1 GB x 2)

    and this is a link to the manual of your model: http://www.fujitsupc.com//www/content/pdf/usermanuals/sseries/S6120,S612D_GINGER_USERGUIDE.PDF
    ... you should be able to find a complete guide to the upgrade. Sorry cannot point you to the page, I am currently using a dial-up connection and loading that PDF will take a while :p

    More questions? go ahead! :)

    Isn't the mini pci slot located under the HDD on the S6000 models? That's how I remember it!
    If it is the exchange is very easy, the card pops of and back in in an instant!

    Hey thanks for the link

    I don't know which to get now the 512 or the 1GB as I use the machine for uni, using Office, watching the odd DVD, listening to music and going through some photos

    Cheers

    I'd get the 512MB. Doesn't sound like your doing anything requiring boatloads of memory.

    I agree, 512MB should be enough for your use, and even some more to spare! And in the worst case you can always add another 512MB later on.... I am assuming you have 256MB at the moment? If so you will notice significant improvement. I had an old P3 laptop with 256MB that I was ready to trash, but decided to add another 256MB just to see if I can get anything out of it, and the improvement was significant enough to make me keep it and use it for internet and chatting around the house!
