I just wanted to share my S6210 buying experience. I ordered from Portable One on July 27th with an expected delivery date of Aug. 11th. I emailed P1 for a status check on the 10th and told there was a delay from Fujitsu and I'd have the computer next week.

Next Tuesday I receive a call from P1 explaining that there were a couple of dead pixels on the screen and that they could replace it though it would take at least 72 hours.

The following Tuesday I called again for a status check and was told everything was a go. That Friday I was leaving for a weekend trip and had not received the computer so I figured I just go because I should have the computer by Monday.

On Monday (Aug. 30th), with no computer I contacted P1 and found out Fed Ex had been attempting to deliver it for four days (to my neighbor’s house.) Luckily the distribution center is 5 minutes away so I went and picked it up in person.

Overall, I was pleased with P1. Very quick to respond to all my emails/phone calls. Updated my order no problem. Checked for dead pixels and replaced the screen no questions asked.

The only negative is there could have been better communication. It’s not P1’s fault Fed Ex screwed up, but if I’d known the computer had been sent I’d probably have had it four days sooner.

    Hi,

I have a quick question about your S6210 and the screen fix.
Did they order a new screen and swap out the screen on yours?
Can you tell or was the fix pretty perfect and just like new?

Also, for DVD playback, how do you find the horizontal (left and
right) viewing angles. If you move to the side - does the DVD
playbak still look pretty clear until you get to extremes?

Just asking because I had some problems with my S6210 and
I think as a result the DVD playback was really bad, just making
sure that a good S6210 has good DVD playback.

Thanks for your help and story.

    Casey

Yes, P1 ordered a new screen and swapped it out (that's the only way to fix dead pixels, I believe). That's part of the reason for the delay.

I hadn't watched any DVDs yet so I popped some in today to see. I played around with various angles and I can stand all the way to side (left or right) and still get a clear picture. I placed the laptop in my lap and turned it so the screen was perpendicular to my chest to test it close up and the screen was still fine.

However, when I picked it up and it reached eye level it "washed out" kinda looking like a photo negative. I placed it on a desk and sat on a floor. as soon as I move to the left or right the screen "washes out" However if I'm viewing the screen from above (even slightly above eye level) that doesn't happen.

I'm pretty new to this stuff and don't know what to expect so now I'm confused. Is that normal?

I think its normal that the verticle (up-down) angles
produce a washed out effect after certain angles.
But you should have a decent "sweet spot" which it
    sounds like you do.

Mine had a problem that any left-right movement, even at
the perfect verticle angle, produced the photo-negative effect
that you are seeing. The S6210 seems to be known for having
great left-right viewing angles buand decent up-down angles
but any extreme up or down will not produce the best picture.

Yea, in retrospect there really isn't any reason I'll need to be viewing the screen from the floor 45 degrees to the left or right.

The screen is fantastic, looks just like new and no dead pixels. P1 did a great job. I would have no idea the screen was swapped out.

I hope everything works out for you.

Thanks, your replies are making me feel better about my purchase now. I was doubting the S6210 after I saw my screen.

what I noticve is the new CV screens have a wider up and down viewing angle but left and right is no better maybe even a bit worse than others.

I think this is the way it should be. After all, when you are looking at the laptop you are directly in fron of it but with most laptops you are constantly angeling the lid to get the correct view, with the CV you don;t have to tweak the lid angel so much.
