Does anyone know what size cache is included on the hard drives of the S6210? Specifically I am looking at getting the 40GB 5400 rpm hard drive from Fujitsupc.com. Also is the hard drive replacable by the end user if I decide I want to replace it with the Hitachi 40GB 7200 .

    Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to the forums. I bought the S6210 from www.portableone.com over a month ago and on the site there is an option to upgrade from the stock 40gig 5400rpm drive to a 60gig 7200rpm drive for $150. This is a good deal considering that to buy the 60gig 7200 drive in stores it would cost over $190. Plus you dont have to mess with installing it. I had them upgrade it for me. Of course, you can choose to do whatever you want. If you are a student, you could call and ask about the 5% student discount from portableone. Yes the drive is replaceable if you decide to do it yourself later.

Here is the base model that I got upgraded for my purchase:

If you have anymore questions, dont hesitate to ask.

P.S. I am unsure about the cache size.

The only way to tell how many MB of buffer on the harddrive is by knowing the harddrive model. Like the 60GB 7200RPM(7K60) and 80GB 5400RPM(5K80), they are Hitachi and they all are 8MB buffer. generally for harddrive, you either have 2MB or 8MB. I don't know why, but they seem like a magic numbers.
