Hi,
So, anyone here with a S6210 or S6220? I'm considering buying one, but need to have a true port replicator so I can set it up at my desk at work. Some of you know the S6100 series and below has a port on the bottom of the laptop that can be docked into a port replicator. The port replicator has serial, parallel, USB, ethernet, PS/2, and most importantly, VGA port on it. So you can leave all your mouse and keyboard and monitor connected to the port replicator, and you just dock the laptop into it when you come to the desk.
But when I searched for accessories for the S6200 series, the only docking solutions is the USB 2.0 Dock, which doesn't have VGA (and in my opinion is a completely different thing than a real port replicator/docking station).
What I'm trying to figure out is, do the S6200 laptops actually have that same little port on the bottom of the laptop? It is covered by two spring-loaded slit-doors, and it is about two inches long, rectangular, with lots of pins...
I'm wondering if the laptop itself can support a port replicator, they just haven't made the actual port replicator yet...but will in the future.
Anyone with an S6210 or S6220, could you look on the bottom of your machine and tell me if you have that port?
Thanks!!!

I have an S6210.
When you say bottom, do you mean the part that sits on your lap, or do you mean the back where most of the other ports are located?
I wasnt really sure what I was looking for, and didnt find it [].
The following link says:
Docking Options
* Optional USB 2.0 docking station (FPCPR41)
* One USB 2.0 upstream port; Two USB 2.0 downstream ports
* Two PS/2, one serial, one parallel, and one Ethernet port

I just can't get over it, because the two series appear to be SO similar, almost identical, yet they don't share this feature...WHY???

Run1track, thanks for checking. When I say bottom I mean the part that sits on your lap.
Maybe an illustration will help.
If you download the S6120 manual, and turn to page 10 (page 18 of the PDF file), you will see the underside of the laptop. In the upper right corner is a rectangular block that is labeled "Port Replicator Connector".
Now, if you download the S6210 Manual, and look at page 10 (18 of the PDF), you'll see the same rectangular block in the upper right corner, but no label.
My hope was that the port replicator connector was actually ON the laptop, but just not advertised as yet, because they had not finished making the port replicator. But if you couldn't find anything, then perhaps I am wrong...
If so, that's too bad...it would have been a perfect machine for the office, otherwise...
Thanks for checking. Anyone else with any ideas, or inside information?
BTW, the USB 2.0 dock won't cut it because it doesn't have a VGA port.Last edited by a moderator: Feb 2, 2015 -
No, it doesn't offer a full port replicator, but the USB option does have VGA. I have a friend who uses a Target USB option that offers VGA. I don't really see the point though, you still have to plug in several cords.
