I have an S6231, 7 months old. I recently did a clean reinstall of XP Pro on my laptop after wiping the pre-installed XP Home. I also installed all the drivers on the S6231 driver CD.

However all of a sudden, it seems I cannot access the DVD-R dive.

If I attempt to click into it to drag and drop files for copy, I get the following message.
    "E:\ Is not Accessible
    Incorrect Function"

SO I cannot copy ONTO to the drive. However I am able to Read/Play and copy things OFF the drive. A bit weird. Anybody had this problem before?

Are you using the Windows CD burning software? Try using third party software such as Nero or Clone CD.

I installed Nero and now it works -whew.

But I dont understand why copying shouldn't work with standard XP Pro install. Its supposedly part of the standard windows functions!

It should work. Drag the files onto the disc in Windows Explorer. Under the file menu there should be an option to burn.
