    Wondering if anyone can assist.
Bought the S6231 in May. Within 2 months, a vertical white bar top to bottom about 1.5cm in width shows up about 2/3 from the left side. The bar shows up right after pressing the power buttom before OS is loaded. It also shows up in CMOS screen. It did not show up on the external monitor when sending video via video output port.
Took it to a Fujitsu auth service provider and he claimed (to my wife) that it is caused by SPYWARE. He asked for $145 to get rid of spyware. If bar still there, he will replace the screen.
After talking to my IT associates at work, they said hardware issue is very likely. Ran Spy Sweeper on it, just found cookies. Anti-virus reported no traces.
    Opinion/suggestion welcome.

Spyware!?! Yea, that's a good one. Ask him if he has some snake oil for your arthritis. When preparing for warranty service I would burn my files or back them up on an external harddrive. Then reinstall the OS from the supplied dvd. Turning the WIFI switch off, that should answer the spyware question. I think your screen is defective.

It is most certainly not Spyware causing that, good grief, it's a bad sign when a service provider can't seperate hardware from software problems. I would either go to another Fujitsu authorized service provider or ship it back to Fujitsu -- you're covered for a year from defects and it sounds like the screen backlight has wobbled out of position or something.

I would also report that service provider to Fujitsu HQ. I can't help but think they would care.

    Thanks guys for assistance.
After consulting with my IT colleagues, they all agreed that 99.9% is hardware related. The bar shows up before anything is loading and while it is doing POST.
The Service Provider finally agreed to order a replacement after checking I had removed spyware (cookies) from the system.
I will seek another SP if and when my Fujitsu requires another service.

I still vote for Fujitsu. :fujitsu:

On my old tecra 8000, there was one time i wanted to was theh screen with the foamy screen cleaner and i put too much and it ran down the screen and got into the bezel. That made a vertical line of stuck pixel there. It's a hardware thing, i fried my screen.
